I couldn't find a "New Thread" box under "In Memorium", so I'll post here since most of my posts are for the Fort.

Friday night we lost our dear Kenya, our nearly 15 year old daughter who had a multitude of medical and mental problems. From seemingly healthy on Monday, she was taken to the ER Tuesday evening. A host of test were inconclusive and they decided on exploratory abdominal surgery. Shortly after the surgery began the surgeon came to us and showed us some pictures and said her intestines were 90 % dead and gangrene has set in. Due to her other problems we were told there was nothing they could do for her. We were advised to make her comfortable, and they expected she would pass away within a day or so, if not that night.

Long story short, she lasted through the night and through Thursday. While her numbers were stabilized, we knew it was still just a matter of time. Around 8 p.m. on Friday we had the ventilator turned off, and she slept peacefully until the end about 9:15.

While she was very restricted in what she could do, we loved her and we miss her terribly. She will be cremated on Thursday and she will come with us to the Fort next week, just as our two other children we have lost travel with us.

So Sorry for your loss...May God comfort you and your family during the difficult time. :grouphug:

Very sorry for your loss. You, Judy and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Godspeed Miss Kenya...

Ken, you and I have a certain connection, our association with the Dream House for Medically Fragile Children. You live the life, my contribution is miniscule by comparison. You and Judy are heroes in my opinion, and I KNOW that Kenya and your other children live the best lives possible, what more can anyone ask for...other than the Good Lord to welcome Kenya into His home.

Ken, I am so sorry for the loss of your daughter, your family will be in my thoughts.

Please accept my deepest condolences. I hope that God is providing you and your wife comfort during this very difficult time. I also hope that the community of the camping boards is providing you with comfort as well.

Ken,

It is a sad thing to hear this. Thank you and Judy for providing a loving home for these kids.

Ken and Judy,
I am so sorry for your loss. You two must be such incredible people to open your hearts to these little Angels. I hope you are able to find some comfort during this very difficult time.
Being a parent of a physically and mentally disabled child myself I know how special and fragile these children are. I can not imagine the strengh and courage you have raising 3 and 4 at a time. You are both ANGELS hear on earth and I hope some day I have the honor of meeting you and your family.

Wow; that's pretty-much every parents nightmare. I am so very sorry for your loss and am glad she passed somewhat peacefully.

We'll be at Disney next week for the shuttle launch (albeit at a hotel) but please post your site and we'll make sure to stop in and give you a proper hug.
