Can someone who has used the kennels at Disney for overnight boarding PLEASE e-mail me? I have a Greyhound and I do not want to board him here at home - I'd rather take him with me and board him at Disney .... but hacing never seen these kennels, I am hesitant to do so. I would appreciate your input!!

I COULD BE VERY WRONG, but as I remember the kennels do not board overnight. ONLY FOR THE TIME YOU ARE IN THE PARK. Anyone else have any feedback?

Dear Poohsmommi,

I have been traveling to Disney World for years with my dogs. I have both boarded them over-night and only during the day (when we stay off property). All of the kennels at Walt Disney World are very well kept and the cast members are really great. However, I prefer the kennel at Epcot because there are more shaded areas to walk your dogs. The Epcot kennel has both in-door and out-door cages. I was very nervous the first time I boarded my dog at Disney because he had never been boarded before, but the cast member immediately put me at ease and even took down my cell number to call me if there was a problem. Every time I board him now, he has to say goodbye to everyone with a big old lab kiss.

Is your greyhound an ex-racer?

I've boarded my greyhounds at the Fort Wilderness kennels and they were very comfy there....much bigger kennels than what they were used to at the track!

I'm not sure if they still do this, but there's a fenced area attached to the kennel that they would allow us to let the hounds run free. That worked out great because, as you probably know, they run like crazy for a few minutes and then all they want to do is go sleep :rotfl2:

Yes, he is. His last race was 5/28/05. There was a fire at the track on 6/1/05 - he survived and I adopted him.

Oooh, how wonderful! We have two ex-races and they are truly the light of our lives. I've heard nothing but good things about the kennels at WDW (though never having used them myself). If your guy was raced then he will be VERY used to living in a small kennel. I'm sure Disney's would be considered a palace by his standards! Make sure you visit him often during your stay and have a great trip!

Yes, I know he'd be used to it ... it's just that I've had him for 3 months now and he hasn't been crated once. I'm afraid to board him at a kennel here, at home, for 5 nights ... I'm afraid he will be miserable. At least there, while he can't sleep with me at night, at least I can visit and he will know I haven't left him. If anyone has photos of the kennels, I sure would appreciate it if you can send them to me. My stomach is in knots over the thought of having to board him while I'm gone .... thanks!
