Hi fellow Dis-nuts!
We are planning to put Sparky...our 1 yrs old Shih Tzu in a kennel when we go on our trip in June......we want to make sure we pick a good kennel for Sparky....does anyone know a website or have info as to how we can find out if a certain kennel is a "good kennel once we find one?

Wanna make sure Spark-Dog gets the best care!::yes::

If you vet does not board dogs ask him or her for a reference. you can also ask the breeder or other people you may know who have boarded dogs for advice.

Definitely ask your vet for recommendations... he/she talks to lots of pet owners and can be a wealth of information.

Also ask acquaintances with pets if they have recommendations.

Here's how I found the kennel I've been using for many years: I was parked at Sonic, and a Suburban pulled in beside me. There was a lady driving it, and she had her 2 Great Danes with her. We visited for a while with our windows rolled down... it was clear that these were two very well-loved, well-behaved and coddled *huge* dogs. I hadn't found a kennel that I really loved for my two labs, so I asked this lady where she boarded her pampered pooches. I cound not be more happy with the result.

Ask your vet, dog trainer and friends who have dogs. I am fortunate that my vet also boards both cats and dogs.

I use a kennel that is acredited by the
American Boarding Kennels Association
http://www.abka.com/

This is a great website, they tell you how you should evaluate kennels , etc..
