I'd love to hear about any boarding kennel experiences in HHI. We are thinking that we'll board our dog locally in HH rather than at home so we can visit him and take him out for walks during our vacation. Any input would be helpful! Thanks!

The HH phone book has a couple of places listed on-island. The one that looks the nicest (at least according to the ad!) closes at 5:30 every day. You can't walk your dog on the beach until after 5 pm, so that wouldn't be much fun. If want the details though, LMK and I can post them. :sunny:

Not sure how much help this will be, but...

I know someone who regularly uses the Evergreen Pet Lodge on Hilton Head Island. I know she does take her dogs for a walk on the beach, but it may be more the time of year, since pets are permitted for longer hours during the off season.

My daughter has used Brooke's Bed & Biscuit in Bluffton and has been very pleased with them, but they are quite a bit further than from the resort, and not near a beach...

Actually according to HHI beach regulations you can have dogs on a leash between 10 and 5pm after Labor Day. I got this information from their web page. Since we always walk our dog on a leash this isn't a problem. Our plan is to visit HHI in September 2007.

I have to say I think that Evergreen looks good and I'm glad to know there is someone who has used them regularly. They look better than the kennel we'll be using at home, though I'm generally happy with my choice (for our upcoming September trip to WDW). It also seems to be reasonable close to the resort.

I think the relaxed pace of a vacation at HHI will be ideal for including Gus. Plus he'll finally get to meet his "grandparents" and they'll get to meet their canine grandson.
