Kennedy Space Centre and places on the way

We're hoping to do Kennedy Space centre when we go in July. But not sure if there is anything else that way or what it is near. Any one got any info for me?

Hi Groovee,

You'll probably need a full day at Kennedy Space Centre, so wouldn't really plan to do anything else, unless you want to stay over a night?

Just south, is Merritt Island, where there is plenty to do. We are going kayaking with manatees this July around that area.
If you are into shopping, there are a few good areas just off the Merritt Island Causeway - The Merritt Square Mall etc.

There is also Cocoa Beach, with the famous Ron Jon surf shop, just south of Cape Canaveral

To the north, you've Daytona - where the cars go on the beach and north of that St.Augustine, the oldest city in Florida - a great place to stay over.

Not much inbetween Titusville and Orlando, though.

Definitely as already said a full day's visit. From what I remember the road to it is a pretty lonely one, I cannot remember seeing lots of towns but it is a while since we went.

Hi,
Last time we went to KSC we called at Port Canaveral and had dinner at Grills and watched the fishing boats coming back in and the cruise ships leaving. Very enjoyable and relaxing day.

would recommend some time at Cocoa Beach, but KSC is really a full day visit.

And as others have said the drive out to there is on one long straight and very boring road, so what normally happens with our lot is DH drives and after a day at KSC we all sleep on the way back.

We've still not seen everything at KSC and we've been twice now. As others have said there is not much to see on the road out there, but quite a lot in the area of KSC itself, not that we've ever seen any of it either.
