I am having a hard time mapping the KSC... how long a drive it is from where the Disney cruises depart? We are thinking about visiting the center before our cruise departs on a Thursday. Is this feasible? Should we check in at the ship and check our bags before going to KSC (around 9am or so)? Would that save time?

I don't think you will want to do KSC on embarkation day.

The bus tour at KSC (beyond the visitor's center) alone is about 2 - 3 hours long minumum (depending on how much time you choose to spend at the stops), and given that they don't open until 8 or 9 A.M., that puts you at the port well into the afternoon. Plan to spend not less than 5 - 6 hours at KSC, or you for sure won't find it worth the admission price.

Beware - You thought Disney was expensive...the cost of food there is outragous. The place is run by a contracted park operator out of Delaware (not Uncle Sam), and you would think they are trying to fund the whole space program with the prices of admission, food and souveneres!

P.S. - It's about a 20 minute drive to KSC from the Port.

I have to agree... On embarkation day, get to the port, and GET ON THE SHIP!!!

There is quite a bit to see and do at KSC... The exibits, the tour(s), the cool IMAX movies. Could spend quite a few hours there!

I agree with the others. We did KSC on disembarkation day, and that's worth it. It is really pricey. I remember something like $25 for one foot long hot dog, one order fries, and 2 drinks. Be prepared, because the food is out quite a ways from the front, so you're stuck.
