I have read some info on the KSC but I am wondering how long it would take to see most attractions here. We have a full day but it would be fun to spend a few hours at the beach as well. Is Cocoa Beach close or are there any suggestions for a closer beach? The kids are older teenagers who have some interest in the space program so I expect it will hold our interest. Since we aren't certain if we will be doing this, can we see enough if we don't purchase tour tickets in advance? We will decide that day if we are going or not and I am afraid that we won't be able to experience much if we haven't booked tickets in advance. I am not worried about seeing everything but I would like to feel satisfied at the end of the day. Sorry for so many questions but I don't know whether to visit here or not.

We are also looking into doing Kennedy and I saw somewhere on the Kennedy website that the entire tour takes roughly 3 hours, that includes the extra "NASA close up" tour.

After enjoying the upclose tour, they deposit you @ way out @ the building that has the shows/rocket, etc. It really depends on how much time you devote to those exhibits before you catch the bus back to the main part of NASA.

We were @ the gates before the park opened. Even w/pre-purchased tix we had to go thru the line, then security. Just had time to tour rocket garden & memorial before we caught the 1st tour of day.

We didn't get to see everything we wanted before the gates were closing, let alone the astronaut museum. Wish we had planned on a 2nd day.

I was the one pouting about going & now I'm the biggest fan in the family.

Wow, thanks for that. We weren't planning on it taking that long. That really helps in the planning, lol. Nine days are going to go by fast!

We went with the same idea and ended up closing the joint! And, I don't consider us space people. We did not do prepaid tickets and when we arrived there was someone there to help us choose an admission. We did lunch with the astronaut and it really enhanced our day. We loved it! We didn't have time to go to Cocoa but we did still swing by Ron Jon's!

We planned to make it a day. ...and we did! :thumbsup2 But, I do think it is possible to get there early and see most of the basics and still leave early enough to go do other things. We did the full upclose tour, and took our time and shuffled about. I say go for it w/an open mind.

We had annual passes and we still haven't seen the imax movies. Last time we went with SIL and her DH we were there at 9 and left when the place closed. And still didn't see those pesky movies! ;)

If you run really fast and don't look at anything, I think you can make it in a few hours.

Be sure to see the movie at the Saturn/Apollo center that recreates a launch. Gives me goosebumps every time.

:)

We went a couple of years ago when Hurricane ivan was going through the Gulf. We got a late start from driving from Disney and because of that wedidn't get to see near half of it. I am already planning at least one day there while we are there in June. As of right now, they are having a launch during the time that we will be there. I have been wanting to be a part of a launch as long as I can remember. Once I see that, I may not come back until NASA makes me an Astronaut :rotfl2: . (Wishful thinking.)
