My husband and I will have a little time in Cocoa Beach before leaving on a cruise. We would like to spend a day at the Kennedy Space Center.

I see that Orlando Fun Tickets site has general admission tickets available at a discount for about $10 less than purchasing through the space center’s site.

Any experience with Orlando Fun Tickets? Any other recommendations for purchasing discounted tickets?

Also, we won’t have a vehicle so will need to arrange transportation to the space center. Our hotel isn’t close enough to offer a shuttle. Can I assume our best bet would be Uber it Lyft? (I’ve never used either.)

Thanks!!

Are you planning on spending the day at KCS on your cruise departure day? If so and not that you asked for my 2 cents :) but depending on what time your cruise departs and what time you have to be check in by you won't have a lot of time to explore KSC if you plan on doing it on your departure day. KCS opens at 9a and even if your ship departs at say 4p you may have to be checked in by 2p. It's about a half hour from KCS to the Port and that would mean leaving KCS around 1230p to be safe if you have to get luggage before you go to the Port, 1p maybe if you don't have to get luggage.

If you are flying home depending on your flight time most cruise lines offer a KSC excursion the day you get back from the cruise.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond! :) We will be arriving on Saturday and our cruise departs on Monday. We were looking to spend most of Sunday at the space center.

Perfect. When you said "a little time" I thought you might be trying to squeeze it in departure day. Lot's to see and do there. I have been twice and the last time was a double bonus. We ended up extending our trip by two days and in doing so it allowed us to view a SpaceX launch from KCS from about 3.5 miles away. Make sure to see the Atlantis. The reveal is amazing.

As for transportation I would look at both Lyft and Uber. I think they both have an estimator feature to figure out the cost. I would then look and see if you can rent a car for a day around the same cost. My feeling is you may have a wait a bit to get an Uber or Lyft back from the KCS as there is not much around there other to give the driver reason to be there. If you do get a rental it would allow you to maybe do some shopping if need be or even venture out a bit for dinner etc.
