Kennedy Space Center--crowds

I last visited the Kennedy Space Center on my honeymoon in 1992! Now I would like to take my kids there. We would be visiting on a weekend in May. Can anyone tell me how the crowds are on a weekend in May?

Also I would appreciate any tips you have. We will be driving from Orlando to spend one day at KSC. Thank you

I don't know about May, but we were just there on a Sunday in January and it was very un-crowded. I expect May might be a bit busier, but I can't say for sure. My main advice would be to be there at opening because there is a lot to see and explore. Give yourself plenty of time to tour, otherwise you will find yourself just running through and not having time to really read and understand the information presented. Be sure and see one of the Imax movies. Do the simulated launch experience....although Mission Space is way, way cooler. lol. My 11 year old loved KSC!
