We are considering visiting the Kennedy Space Center the morning before our cruise.

Has anyone done this?

We would like to take the NASA up-close Tour. It starts at 9:50 am and lasts about 1 1/2 hours. We should have a little time before the tour starts, and maybe a little after, to explore the other areas of KSC.

I know that it shouldn't take very long at all to get from KSC to Port Canaveral since they are so close together.

Do we have enough time to enjoy this? Or would it be a waste of money to only spend a few hours there?

Thanks in advance

If you are a space fan, then it is neat to visit KSC to see some stuff up close and personal. It won't take all day, and you can definelty enjoy the attraction. It is not a very big attraction. It is very close to the port. (Just to put in perpective, local kids here do this as a field trip during a regular school day (hours)

We actually plan to do KSC on the day we disembark next September. Figure we'll be off the ship by or before 9am, pick up rental cars, drive to KSC & spend the day there before heading into Orlando.

We have done the tour two different times. We get there when they first open and spend the time before the first tour leaves looking at all the exhibits, and then when we finish the tour we do some more exploring and then head over to the ship.

There is plenty of time before to see KSC.

We have been on the ship before 1 p.m. when we have done this.

Enjoy!

Just another perspective-we spent an entire day there, and didn't see everything we would have liked to. It is certainly close enought to spend a few hours, but just realize you will not be able to see all the exhibits and movies.

We did the KSC tour after our Magic cruise. We got in about 10am on Saturday (paid $29 each for just the KSC tour) and stayed until about 5pm. We were zonked and had seen no more than half of it. The tour takes you to the three visitor centers and each one has shows and exhibits. The Apollo center was really interesting. There were more movies and exhibits than we could see in 8 hours! The bus tour alone took about an hour and stops at 3 places where you get off and take tour and then catch the next bus.

It was July and so it was crowded but didn't really have lines. When we boarded our first bus for the tour, it was interesting that we were the only ones from the US on the tour; everyone else was from Europe, Japan or Mexico!

NASA was a nice break from one week of Disney...

We went to KPC with the thought that we would spend a couple of hours and then go to the beach. We are not really space people and were trying to squeeze something educational in for the kids. Frankly, I was dreading it. Well, we got there at 11 and they kicked us out at 7. We saw one of the imax movies and did the bus tour, had a nice lunch with an astronaut. We saw quite a bit, but still not all. Frankly, I can't imagine trying to do it all in a few hours. I could spend that in just the gift shop, (very neat gift shop)!! It was one of the highlights of our week.

We had planned to visit KSC the day before our cruise - kids can't wait. But now we are going to go the day we get off the ship because they are launching a rocket that day! Hopefully it is during the day but if not one more day in Florida will be alright with me!

You can check the KSC website to get the dates of upcoming launches. The one we are planning on watching is on Jan 27.

We have visited there twice and would not try to do it before getting on the ship. It would be a nice thing to do after you come back.

I don't know if you you have enough time. KSC opens at 9am I believe. I believe admission is about $30 for adults. and $20 for kids. Last time we went on a cruise we arrived to the terminal at 10:30 am and there was already a live to check in. We like to get on the ship right when it opens so we can swim and enjoy lunch. If that isn't a big deal I believe you have to be on board by 3.

When we went to KSC we spent about 6 hours and didn't get to do everything.
