Kennedy space center, any opinions?

We went to Kennedy in 2006, and while I absolutely loved it (and this was before the Shuttle Launch Experience opened), I'm under no illusion that my DW and three DDs were less than thrilled.

I guess your enjoyment depends on how excited you are by the history of the place. We took one of the tours, and it was absolutely fascinating - helped no end by getting to see a Space Shuttle on its pad (sadly, it launched two days after we came home - I'd kill to see that).

It's undoubtedly in one of my top 5 Florida experiences, but that is because I'm a real space junkie, and Kennedy was one of those places I dreamed of visiting when I was a kid. It didn't disappoint me one bit, and I'd have gladly taken one of the other tours, but I think the rest of my family were left pining for the malls and rollercoasters! We visited the nearby Cocoa Beach afterwards which, I think, made up for it to some degree.

Obviously I'd recommend it to anyone - but the history of it was somewhat lost on my offspring. That said, I think I've been given the ok to re-visit when we go back this year on the 11th. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the scheduled August 6th launch slips a bit...

We went to KSC on our 1st Orlando trip and we enjoyed it very much. I agree that it was a hot day and we went on a coach trip so our time there was short. On our next trip we plan to go again. This time we are going in December so it should be cooler and we will have a car. I enjoyed looking at all the exhibits and thought the info was presented very well. Next time we are planning on doing with the lunch with the astronaught or the guided tour. We are all adults in our group and we all enjoy musuems, especially science related things.

Oh and BTW poggs, I am a huge Big Brother fan, I never miss a episode of it!!

Thanks for the info all! :)

I'm looking forward to it now, i can't wait! :thumbsup2 Sooooo excited! :dance3:

PS> I am also a Big bro fan :flower3:

When we first went to KSC in 1990 it was pretty dull. However, I was very pleasantly surprised on a more recent trip. They have done a HUGE amount of work on the displays and, now, KSC is a must see on our trips to Orlando.

It is definitely not just a guy thing, my Mum and I both enjoy going there, but you have to like museum type stuff to get the most out of it. The coach tour is quite good, and seeing the launch pads and stuff is fun. A few visits back we were able to take a walk through some mock up international space station parts, but that part was closed during our last (winter) trip.

It can be quite a long day and, as with Disney, you can have a much more enjoyable experience by getting there early and getting on an early coach tour, thus avoiding the coach line and the worst heat of the day.

My favorite is the rocket in the exhibition hall- that is truely awesome! :cool1: It is the thing that DBF is most looking forward to on our trip next year. It's his first trip to WDW, but the thing he really wants to see is the rocket at the KSC :confused3: go figure.

If you like museums, then definitely give this one a go.

To each his own and I am sure that many people love it but OMG I am a 30 year old female and while my husband wanted to read every little tiny bit of info on every plaque I thought I was going to DIE of boredom. I have never ever been so bored in my entire life. Sorry for those peeps who love it, but this is just my opinion.

Thanks again everyone! :thumbsup2

It's good to hear EVERYONES views as it gives a balanced insight, thanks for the ticket link Wayne :) We're definitly going to try it, i'll try most things once ;)
