Hi,
Just wondering if anyone else enjoys the BBC's old sitcom, Keeping Up Appearances, as much as my DW and I do? It took her a while to convince me to watch it, but once I did I was hooked. I have to admit, Onslo cracks me up! "What to wear when yachting" and "A riverside picnic" are two of our favorite episodes. Any other Hyacinth Bucket (pronounced "Bouquet") fans out there?

"Oh, nice!" :rotfl2:

I love watching Mrs. Bouquet! :teeth: :teeth:

Of course, my all time favorite is Fawlty Towers. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Basil and Manuel had some great go-arounds! Unfortunately, our local PBS station isn't running Fawlty Towers right now. I always enjoy watching the very beginning to see what they have done to the sign. My favorite episode is the one where Basil and Manuel are trying to hide the body of the deceased guest. :rotfl2:

I like the show, especially enjoy Rose and Onslow. Another BBC show I like is Blackadder.

I love that show and several others on BBC America and public tv. I also like Are You Being Served?, As Time Goes By, and Changing Rooms.

I used to love Mr. Bean---shows and the movies. He was so goofy.

Mike, they have the entire collection on dvd!!!! Once in a while, I need a Fawlty Towers fix... I love that one too. I think my favorite is the episode The Psychiatrists, I laugh so hard when I watch it that my head hurts. :rotfl: :rotfl: Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack your thread. :bitelip:

I usually end up falling asleep part way through it! We've seen them all a few times, also. "To the Manor Born" and "Waiting for God" are a couple of our other favorites. They don't have that "Appearances" or "Fawlty Towers" zaniness, though.

Rita Z.: Don't worry about it! I never saw a thread about these shows so I thought I'd start one. It looks like there are quite a few BBC fans out there.

My parents and I love the Bucket Woman. But Fawlty Towers rules.

I love Brit-Coms!

Keeping Up Appearance (Hyacinth reminds me of my m-i-l)

As Time Goes By

The Vicar of Dibly (love Dawn French, aka the Fat Lady from Prizoner of Azkaban)

My mom and I used to watch that, and Are You Being Served, and Vicor of Dibley before I moved away to college . :flower:

My wife... has it on DVD.

I watch BBC America more than I'd like to admit. Doesn't matter if its a comedy or a drama or whatever. Waking the Dead, Jonathan Creek, the first few years of Changing Rooms, Cold Feet, Kumars at No. 42 (I have actually awakened the entire household laughing), the first two years of Monarch of the Glen, The Office, the old Ground Force, What Not to Wear, Wire in the Blood, So Graham Norton and of course all the old Monty Pythons, Black Adder, As Time Goes By, etc. etc. etc.

My mom got me hooked on watching Keeping Up Appearances. I love Mrs. "Bouquet" aka Bucket. She is a riot and so is her BIL Onslo and her sisters. And the messes she gets into! I often think that Richard is a saint to put up with it all.

It comes on PBS here once a week. I didn't know it was on DVD. Where would be a good place to look for it?

I love the show. I tried talking my DW into naming any future daughters Hyacinth, Daisy, Rose, or Violet. She wouldn't go for it.

I didn't realize there are so many good shows out there. We only get 6 or 7 different ones. We have a couple we don't care for: May to December and The Good Neighbors (at least, that's what I think they're called). I do enjoy Are You Being Served? on occasion but Appearances and Fawlty Towers are my favorites.
