What has proven to be the best way to keep track of young teens while in the park? They want as much freedom as possible. Of course,we want some separate time also, but safety concerns are our top priority. How do cell phones, walkie-talkies, pagers, etc. work in the park? Can any of these items be rented on site? What central meeting places have proven successful? We will be staying at Royal Pacific.

Saftey should be no-problem , there are thousand of people in the parks. A cell phone would be good, there are payphones in the park (you might want to get a calling card). Walkie talkies would be a risk incase they were out of range. Just make sure they check up on you evrey couple of hours or hour.

One more thing. Be very specific about meeting places as you may find it hard to see your family in a crowd.

Good ones may be

1. In front of the hulk next to the rules sign, on the boat dock, in front of the weelchair office, infront of a certain restraunt, next to a front of the lin, fotl, entrance

I know that friends of ours rented Nextel Direct Connect Motorola units for their teenagers while they were in Orlando. I'm not certain if this is the company they used but I did a Google search and came up with this:

http://www.orlandotouristinformationbureau.com/other/cellularphonerentals.htm

Set the units to vibrate because if you're in a noisy area you'll never here the direct connect signal. (You might hear a cell phone ringer tone.)

Hope this helps.

Hi,
On our last trip we had our cell phone, and our boys each had a cell phone, the kind you buy minutes for, and they worked perfectly. We could call back and forth. The other thing we did was to give specific times and places to meet, for lunch, dinner, etc.... we would meet up pretty much every couple of hours regardless though. It worked out really well for us. We also had the walkie talkies, but found that EVERYONE has them, and the younger kids just play on them, so we could never get our kids........ we got tons of other kids replying, but never ours!!! :)

You shouldn't have any problems though...... have fun!!!
