Is Popeye & Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges one of those "you will get soaked" rides? I'm fine with getting soaked, but I don't like walking around the parks in wet sneakers.

I was watching some Youtube videos of the ride, and it looks like there's a storage bin in the middle of the raft. Will they let me take my sneakers off and put them in the bin??

Your not rly "allowed" to do that.... Whether the ride operator will say something about it or not idk. I have seen ppl do it.

Yeah...I think that's one of the maybe you can and maybe you can't things. But you're right...shoes and shirts must be worn at all times.

We have taken our shoes off and put them in the middle and no one has every said anything to us about it. Now we have started renting a locker and go back and lock up anything we don't need or want to get wet and we change our shoes to sandals and then do all the water rides at one time.

You can leave your shoes in a bin on the "dock" or you can put them in the middle.

See? ;)

In July 08, the TM wouldn't let DD take off her shoes and put them in the middle bin on the ride. The TM stopped her and said she had to wear her shoes.
And they did end up soaked but we were staying on-site so it was easy for us to go back to RPR and get all of us a change of clothes and shoes.

So I think it's sounds like some TM's let you take off your shoes and some don't.

to be on the safe side, take a pair of flip flops with you (in a backpack), change into them while on the line.. this way when you get off, your sneakers & socks will be dry. You can place your backpack in the bin in the middle of the ride.. they do stay dry. I ususaly place my cell phone & camera in a plastic bag in the backpack to be on the safe side with them.. I don't want to take any chance of water getting into them...:thumbsup2

Pretty much every time I've ridden it people put their shoes in the bin,and yes this is the wettest ride in IOA.

When I first rode Popeyes last year, I had no idea how soaked you could get on this ride. As the ride started, I saw some ppl who were going for their second time around completely soaked. As our ride started, I quickly removed my sneakers and shirt and tucked it in the bin, plus a friend of mine did the same and also removed his jeans!:lmao:

You're supposed to wear your shoes on the ride, but almost everyone (unless they have sandals or water shoes on) will put their shoes/socks in the onride bin. I always put all my valubales in a plastic bag & put the bag in the bin. My stuff stays dry whilst I get DRENCHED.

I think it's probably best to bring flip flops or something that can get wet with you to change into before getting in line. That way you're not scrambling to get your shoes/socks off and into the storage bin before you head down the rapids. Plus, if you end up with a stickler of a TM, you'll be covered as well. We did this last year for the 3 water rides. We changed over to flip flops before going on Jurassic Park, then hit Ripsaw (twice), then Blutos (twice). After we were nice and soaked we changed into our nice clean, dry clothes we had stored in a locker. Best feeling ever. :thumbsup2
