Was just wondering what anyone else does about keeping your tents clean (other than sweaping up tents, mats at tent openings, leave footwear outside). I was thinking of putting down a tarp or something from the concrete pull in through our screen room and to the two tents we will use. My biggest concern is drainage. I don't want to create a slip and slide to the tents . Any other suggestions would be helpful.

when we did tent camp.

I bought a good size of the cheap indoor outdoor carpet,if it gets to bad you can just toss it out.
we use this with are pop-up now.

We are diligent about leaving footwear outside and have never had a problem with sand in the tents. We do bring a dustpan and broom along so we can sweep out at the end but there usually isn't much to sweep up.

Have fun!

I've got a cheap battery powered dust buster and it makes all the difference. Oh, and one thing I really hate is sand in the bed. Here is a little tip for that. I'm not sure what you call them but it's a kind of quilt that is woven (when you stretch it the holes stretch out).

Anyway, this is great for putting over your air mattress because if sand gets in the bed it falls through the holes and instead of sleeping in sand, you are sleeping on top of the blanket. It puts a buffer between you and any sand that gets in the bed.

Thanks everyone. I might look into getting some astro-turf like carpet.

We take our mat from our back door camping with us - it is a "Don Aslett" brand from QVC and it is awesome at keeping debris out of our house and out of our tent. We had a site about a month ago that was a complete bed of pine needles and the only needles that got inside our tent were the ones that DS brought in with his dump truck!

I'll definitely have the door mats and the dust pan. If I can get the fake grass and it doesn't weigh too much I'll try that too.

Find a nice plastic milk crate-the kind that are essentially a latticework- and saw off fourth-fifths of its height. put it out front as a 'shoe knock'. Just stomp on it a few times before you step in. The sand falls through where your shoes can't pick it up again.
