Keeping in budget trip

Unfortunately you offered up too much info , so now people will judge you without facts. Enjoy your trip.

What facts are we missing? Food stamps are either received via the tax dollars of other Americans, or received through fraud. Is there another alternative I am not aware of? If so, then I might be missing a "fact" and I apologize.

Yes, I am judging her morality. Choosing either welfare fraud or accepting support from other people, while you take an expensive vacation is immoral.

She might be a wonderful, hard working person (I never suggested she wasn't hard-working). If so, I'm sure she'll re-examine her decision.

God this stuff gets so tiresome. Let's all sign up up with new ID's so we can post our thoughts.:rolleyes1
If you dont like it move on.:headache:

I don't think its "new IDs". I think it's something so outrageous that people take notice. I haven't posted for ages, just lurk around here a bit, but I'm not into encouraging mooching.

They work as hard or harder than I do,but dont make enough $$ to survive without assistance.

This is exactly the point. If you don't make enough money to survive without assistance, you don't make enough money for an expensive vacation. If you have enough money for an expensive vacation, then you shouldn't be collecting assistance.

This!

Call me crazy, but I have a feeling that the OP has signed up with a bunch of screen names to argue this crazy idea and is probably laughing her (or his) rear off watching the debate. Just a thought......:rolleyes1

by telling you to "please do not feed the trollpopcorn::", I am actually feeding the Troll:scared1::confused3. Decisions, decisions, decisions....:rotfl2:;):worship:

Wow! What a sweet group of people here!

I am also a hard working single Mom who wants to go to Disney!

Therefore, I demand everyone on here send me 5 unmarked $20 bills out of their vacation budget so I can take the trip me and my five kids deserve! I've earned it! Disney posters are the best!

:grouphug:

What you do with your money is your business but you may do better with the kids stay, play and dine for free offer if you can fit it into your time frame. I do agree with others though that waiting until you are self sufficient may make for a more meaningful trip.

Wow, lots of new people here including the OP. Welcome to the DIS! (Whoever you are.... ;) )

If you're crazy, then so am I, because that was *exactly* what I thought.

Hi Paculina and Austin Rhea--recognize you from that "other" forum! :wave2:

Honestly, given OP's low post count I'm thinking troll. But, if she's sincere, I will join the group that says if you're on food stamps, you don't need to go to WDW on vacation.

Hi Aggie! I had never heard of this forum until yesterday.

For the record, I signed up because I heard about this post, but I adore Disney World and went once as a child. I would LOVE to go again, and will some day. I was floored when I realized how expensive tickets are now. My husband is going to a Disney resort for a work conference in October, so our hotel and travel would be paid for, and I STILL can't justify the expense of tickets and food for me to go with him for the week and go to the Disney Park. Not one thing in Orlando is cheap. I know there are deals out there and I am excited to have found this forum so maybe I can afford to go with my husband this fall.

Which led me to my post about this OP going with 4 kids, one of which is 2 years old and will NOT remember the trip, while on Food Stamps. So yes, it may have been judgemental, but since the OP is using my tax dollars, I feel I have a small right to tell her to put her big girl panties on and wait on this trip till she is off Government Assistance.

There are a LOT of single parents who have no debt, work and qualify for help with food stamps and or medical care. They should NEVER go on a vacation as they get food stamp assistance? We don't know her situation, debts, working situation. Awfully quick judgments here!

:thumbsup2

I couldn't agree more. Sheesh, people are so quick to judge, it's unbeliveable around here lately. and for the record, I am not nor have I ever been on foodstamps or other assistance...

Where is the fraud involved? She asked if she could use food stamps for milk and the like. Isn't that allowed?

I don't live in the states and I'm not very familiar with foodstamps. However, are they not for people who cannot afford to feed themselves and their families? Are there not income and savings minimums needed to qualify? If someone has enough money to take a family of five to WDW (not a cheap trip), wouldn't they make too much to qualify for aid?

I agree that we don't know the OP's story (assuming, for the sake of argument, that it was a real question), but don't we know that she must make under $X/month and have under $Y in savings, even if we don't know why?
