Does anyone know of any gadgets or devices that can be used to keep your glasses from coming off during the thrill rides like Space Mountain, RnR, etc.? I am paranoid that I'm going to lose mine, so I take them off, then miss out on all of the visuals of the ride.

This is a great question. My kids laugh at me, I always put my glasses down my shirt on the big drop on Splash Mtn. so they don't fall off or get wet! :teeth:

There are straps of various kinds that you can find usually in the sports sections of stores (such as Wal-Mart, K-Mart, or Target) or at your local optical store. I always wear one with my glasses on roller coasters and other rides where I think my glasses might fall off. Also wear them to Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, nothing like having your glasses washed off in the wave pool, (happened once at TL). Have a great trip. :cool1:

As someone who has worn glasses since he was 5 (going on 30 years now!) and am extremely paranoid about my glasses, the only ride at WDW that I would wear a strap on is Kali River Rapids.

Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, ToT, even RnR don't do anything to even remotely wiggle my glasses.

If you would like something, they do sell the glasses straps with the sunglasses in most of the gift shops.

Have fun!

As mentioned, straps are sold at any major sporting goods store, or the sporting goods section of any major "-Mart" type store...

I've worn glasses since I was about 16 or 17, and I have never had a problem on any roller coaster, and I don't use a strap. My father used to, but even he's realized that the jostling just isn't enough on some of those rides...

Straps'll do the trick, though.

Croakie straps are great. I use them for my sunglasses if I have my contacts on. I use it for DD6 sunglasses so they dont get lost and this last trip for my scrip glasses since I was out of my contacts.

Do what I did, get the Lasik!! This was after losing my glasses on Space Mountain! It wasn't necessarily the ride itself, but me prematurely going to adjust them when we hit a sharp turn....and voila...off they went.

I know the lasik's not for everyone, but it does solve the problem. Oh, and another thing....when I went to lost & found to "try" and find my glasses they had a briefcase of about 30 pair just for one day! :cool1:

Get one of those nylon sport-type glass holders, not the rope type.
I use the nylon ones and they keep your glasses tight to the head.
Also use it at work when I have to work in a crowd and worry that i might get knocked about a bit. Haven't had a problem with them yet (except for losing them in the house). Saw some at Target and they were under $8.

Beware of eyeglass straps with metal chain links. I had one such strap that came apart because a link had a hairline gap that some other part slipped through.

On some occasions I forgot to bring the strap so I had take my glasses off and missed seeing the details of the ride becuase my eyesight is so bad. I just make do without glasses at water parks, I have to get up really close to the hanging maps to figure out directions.

On a ride I think my glasses might come loose on, I usually hold them on with one finger. This would be Space Mountain and Rock 'n Roller coaster only. The others don't scare me. I wish I had enough nerve to get LASIK, I think I'll the one-in-a-million that has trouble.

Worn them on everything and they never even moved. Not once. In fact, to be honest, it never even crossed my mind that I should be worried about them. I suppose if they are loose on your face it might be a problem but ones that fit properly should be OK!

:smooth:

I wear glasses and I have never had an issue with them falling off. Last year when my sister and I were on TOT a fellow rider was trying to tell me that my glasses would fall off and I told him that I had never had that issue before and that I would have no wear to stick them if I did take them off.

In fact, to be honest, it never even crossed my mind that I should be worried about them.

Me neither! I ride everything and it's never even crossed my mind..........

Of course it will now!!!!!!!! :rotfl:

Never lost my glasses either

My best advice would be those who travels and spends a great deal of money on a trip should never ever leave home without a spare pair. I save my last pair of glasses as they the most current perscription to the ones I normally wear to take on vacations.

Lost or not there is always that chance that glasses could get broke or loose a screw and have lens fall out there to may things that can happen to not travel without a spare pair.

Spare pair or no spare pair, I don't want to lose them. They are lineless trifocals and cost about $300 a pair. They are a tiny bit loose, so that's why I'm paranoid about losing them. Any tighter and they would hurt the back of my ears. I think I'll try the croakies (they do go on and off easily, don't they?) I wouldn't want to walk around with them all day - they are kind of dorky looking. Thanks for the ideas.
