Planning a trip in June with a group of 17.:cool1: One member of our group will need to rent an ECV while there. Is there plenty of room in a studio at BW to keep it at night, etc? I think so but wanted to ask someone who has done it how it works. Also any suggestions on best place to rent one or any other tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.:thumbsup2

It's going to be crowded. How many do you have in your studio? If just the two of you, you might be okay, but if you have four persons, you will be very crowded.

i agree with deb...it'll be tight with 2 ppl, very difficult with any more.

as far as renting one, go over to the disabilities board - there is a thread specically re off-site rentals.
btw, we used buena vista rental .(the same co that rents surrey bikes, etc at the BW - note that you do not get the ecvs, nor can you you replace a malfunctioning one, there) and didn't care for them. the ecv broke down in EPCOT, and my handicapped dad had to walk all the way back to the resort while my db pushed it. there were a few things broken on the ECV when we got it. and, despite our effforts to be pleasant, they were extremelly nasty when we called them "so late!" at 7pm b/c the unit was fully charged but unoperable. it was certainly not a pleasant experience, and we'll be taking our business elsewhere next time:sad2:

hth:)

I broke my ankle five years ago in Disney on the first night of our trip. We were staying in a studio at BWV. I had an ECV. We did park it in the room but it was very very tight. We pulled it alongside the daybed in front of the bed. There were four of us in the room. You can do it but it will be an obstacle.
I've seen people park and charge them in the hallways. Not sure if anyone has had any bad experiences doing that. I've also heard that the front desk will store them back in their office and charge them. I don't know if that's true & I assume if it was you would have to have someone deliver it to them and retrieve it. However, it might be a safer solution than parking it and charging it in the hallway.

There will only be 2 adults in the room. I wondered what the other options were if you were renting it for the whole week as far as charging it at night.
Thanks for the info.

With two of you it will be fine. You'll have an obstacle but it won't be impossible.

We have rented equipment from Care medical and always had good experiences.

We were in Disney World three weeks ago. Many of the scooters had the name Walker on them. I googled Walker Scooter Rental and came up with a website. It says it specializes in rentals in Orlando and Central Florida. I don't know anything about the quality of the service but I saw many scooters being used that came from Walker. Good Luck.

We also rented from http://www.caremedicalequipment.com/ for my mom and they were wonderful. They delivered it right to bell services at SSR. When we were done with it, we took it back to bell services and that company picked it up there.

My mom had hers in the second bedroom of a dedicated studio at SSR. She had plenty of room in the sink area outside of the bathroom, but that that area was bigger because it was dedicated. So, sorry, I can't really comment on a non-dedicated. Sounds like several PP have :)

Will this person need the ecv the entire time, or just mostly for the parks? Because they used to rent them right outside the boardwalk lobby right as you're walking out to the boardwalk. If this person doesn't need it all the time, that might be an option and then they wouldn't have to worry about the room issue.

We rent from Randy's Mobility (randysmobility.com) and just stayed in a BWV studio in December, 3 adults. We pull the ECV in after everyone is already in the room and parked it by the door - there is that little area there before the kitchenette starts. That way it's totally out of our way in the living area. Once we are in the room, we usually don't have to get out again. And God forbid there was an emergency, we could just turn it on and push it out of the way. There are plugs all over the room and the cords are long so charging it there isn't a problem! We've rented from Randy's about 10 times now and find them to be very nice, helpful, and accomodating! They actually delivered it right to our room our first morning there!
