We are getting prepared to take our 6th trip to WDW. Last year I was Dx'd with MS and heat really does a number on me. I was wondering if anyone has this problem ? How do you manage to stay cool? I live in FL but, I stay indoors until the sun goes down. This is not an option since we will be on vacation. Does anyone have any suggestions?? :D

Thanks,

Jenn in Jax
8 days until we reach the Poly

We have been coming to Disney for the past four summers during the last week of August. It's really hot as you know. My best advice is to drink alot of water and get out of the parks by 12- 1:00ish. Go back in the evening when it cools down. I also pack lots of extra underwear.

WE have used these neck scarves called "kool ties" that really help keep you feeling cooler. You soak them in water and they have crystals that soak in the water. You then tie it around your neck. It stays cool for a long time. We really think they help a lot!

Where do you get the "kool ties"? We are leaving Friday and it sounds like something I could use.

Thanks!

We found them in the back with the sports stuff (on the wall) at our store. We paid $2.88 a piece. Bandana, smiley faces etc.
Good luck!
Michelle

I have three suggestions for you:

Take and use an umbrella.....it really helps keep the hot sun off
Eat lots of cool treats.....ice cream, dole whips
Keep a cup of ice going and chew on the ice....will help keep your body cool

HTH

HAve fun!

You can also order kool ties(if you can't find them in a sporting goods store) at www.kooltie.com they are around $10 and ship in about 2-3 days.:D

I agree with drinking ice water. We take a Brita water bottle. It has a big opening, and ice can be easily put in. Everywhere we asked, we were given all the ice we wanted, for free. Also, break up your day. Go early, leave early, swim, nap, and then go back when it's dark.

But, again, drink lots of cold water!

Walgreen's also has Kool Ties . . . saw a large shipment of them yesterday in our local store.

They are selling the cool ties in the parks now. Blue with Mickey all over them. I think they were about $6. Most Walmart's in Florida have them in the sporting goods department for about $2. A hand towel with ice rolled in it and put around your neck work great too. But don't put too much ice at a time, just enough to feel the cool. If you make it too cold it can make you feel nauseous in the extreme heat. If you ask you can get ice all over the park for free. Stay out of the sun as much as possible. Drink water until you think you might drown then have one more. If you are thirsty you have already started to dehydrate. We also carry a small spray bottle for water. I also saw a small pump up mister bottle at Walmart for $12 that you pump up with a built-in pump and then just turn a valve and is sprays a mist on you. The bottle is insulated and you can put ice and cold water in it for an even more refreshing spray.

The slushies available around the parks work well for me. They cool the body temp instantly. :smooth:

Thanks for all the good advice. I tried my local Wal Mart but they told me that they don't carry the Kool Ties. I think I'll have better chances if I go to the Super Center. I'm planning on drinking a lot of water :D

Thanks again for all the good advice!:bounce:

I bought a few of these recently at walmart. They were in with the hunting/camping section. They were on hooks and have every color imaginable!
