Hi all,

I am a bit behind on listening to the show. I just finished listening to John's segment on Keeping Cool at WDW and wanted to add some advice.

Being an endurance runner, I have to be very aware of my hydration plan. The one thing that I have learned through my experiences is that dehydration is not a one day issue. It can take a few days to develop. You can be fine on Monday and Tuesday of your trip, but by Wed or Thurs, your body will have used up its' reserves and you will start to feel ill. It also can take a couple of days to go fell "right" again. It is not just a mater of drinking some water over a short period of time, it needs to be a constant intake of fluid of the duration of the trip, sometimes starting before leaving on the airplane.

Anyway, hopefully this does not come across a too preachy, that is not my intent. John's segment was fantastic and timely, especially with the extreme weather everywhere as Pete pointed out. I just wanted to supplement his already good advice. Thanks.

I'm not sure about that. I can see that it may take time to become deyhdrated, but if you are out in the hot sun and don't drink anything for a few hours, you will also become dehydrated and sick. This has happened to me a few times before at WDW during the hot months.

My #1 tip is those pump misters that John pointed out. I got one at Walmart a few years ago and it is fantastic. It's the only way we can get through hot days while in Florida.

Thanks for the reminder !
I agree that even before flying I try to drink alot more than I usually do
to help out my body fluids when I travel. It seems to help alot.

Not preachy at all! Everyone needs to know the importance of staying hydrated. I never do it of course, but whenever I see someone who is obviously overheated drinking a soda, I want to run over and go "no, no, you need CLEAR liquids.. WATER, WATER, WATER!" When we go, even though it isn't the dead of summer, we all only drink water and the kids can also have popsicles, but no soda...all it does is make you hotter anyway.
