We booked the OKW with the 40% off code 4 months before our trip...I paid the one night deposit no problem. When we checked in I asked the CM to make sure our rate was $189 a night...she said it was. Stupid me I threw away our reservation papers.
When we checked out there was the paperwork hanging on the doorknob...they charged me $390 a night instead of $189 a night. I called the front desk who was super snotty and said there was NO WAY that I could have booked at the OKW for that cheap of a price. Well guess what lady I did, she said they have no record of it since they had already checked us out...she said I would have to call customer service and no she couldnt patch me through to them. I was super ticked.
I called the regular reservation line and she found my reservation that proved the rate was $189 and called the manager of the OKW and straightened it out for us. We went to meet the manager who issued me the credit on my card and he was so nice and apologetic for how we were treated by the front desk girl.
Moral of the story, do not ever throw out the paperwork proving you have a discounted rate, you may need it to prove your price.
