Keep the kids clean or have fun?

Aunt Jodi is gone because the show felt they needed to pay her too. Kate won't allow anyone else in her life to get paid for their time and appearances on the show. So Kate cut her off from the kids and hired some random stranger to come in and help with the kids.

I would love to see the teen years. 8 kids verses Kate. Good Luck with that! :rolleyes1

I was wondering where Aunt Jodi is.....But was she a real family member? What about Beth? Thats the other aunt, right?
I have always wondered where the grandparents are? They are mentioned, I know that Jons father passed away but what about the other grandparents?

It is a LOT strange and mean. I'd never tell a sick child to go anyplace than their comfy beds. Cleaning up puke from carpets and sheets is just another one of those little gifts that comes along with motherhood.

Think about it this way. If your child went to daycare and you were called to pick them up because they were vomiting and you found them laying on a towel on the hard floor because the teachers didn't want to clean it up from elsewhere....how exactly would you react?

I have moved the boys to hard floor WHILE they were throwing up (preferrably in the bathroom). Like if they are lying on the couch and they start to throw up, I pick them up and take them to the bathroom to finish. However, I would never even dream of having them to continue lying on the hard floor! Wow- I've never seen that episode!

Not to keep ranting on Kate, but there was one episode that drove me and DH crazy (DH rarely watches the show because of this show). It was the episode where Kate was trying to hire a housecleaner. Holy Moly! I couldn't believe that she wanted a housecleaner to get down on her hands and knees to clean the floor several times a day.

I know there are "clean freaks" (pardon the expression, I mean it harmlessly) out there, but I am so NOT one that it's hard for me to understand it.

I hadn't noticed that Aunt Jodi was gone. I've been catching up on the reruns. That does make me sad, I hope she is just gone from the filming and not from being an active part in the children's lives. She seemed so loving to the kids.

I did wonder who "Jenny" was when I caught the Sesame Place show this week.

I don't have a problem with the "product placement" and the freebees that come with the show. I loved watching the Kienast Quints in the Kodak Commercials back in the 70's and the Diana Sawyer updates with the Dilly sextuplets.

That is one of my 'fav' episodes. Just because it shows what a hypocrite Kate is. It shows her requirements of dusting and cleaning everything everyday but after the housekeeper came the first time, she 'found' dust in the kids room, along the baseboards and a few other places. Why would there be dust when you clean it everyday already? ;)

About selling their kids for their own financial gain... Helloooo there are 8 small children to care for 5 of which were probably not in their master financial plan in the beginning. Kids are expensive, how would you propose that they earn enough money to support all of the kids in the manner they want to. The monthly bills would be outrageous and imagine the cost of college. Give 'em a break.

they are not the first couple to have 8 kids. nor will they be the last. people get by, they live with in their means, not the way they want to. i do completely understand that in the beginning it was a neccesity, jon wasnt working and the income was needed. they no longer need all that the show provides, so its time to think about their children. there is no way that the way the live is a psycologically healthy environment.
as far as college, give me a break, not all parents can provide a college education for their kids, hell the majority can not. if my kids want to go to college, they will pay for it themselves. i have 3, and it would be the same if i had 8.
at some point a parent has to put their childrens well being before themselves, its time they do that.

I would love to see all of us posters move into Kate's life for a week and then see how our comments would change. None of us has an inkling of what it is really like to live life with 8 small children relatively the same age. I love the poster who said she is like all of us: IMPERFECT and HUMAN.

ITA! :thumbsup2

Since some of you ladies feel sooo strongly about mean and over reacting Kate, exactly why is that you watch the show? Lord knows it can't be just cuz the kids are so cute cuz that would get old really fast. Tell the truth is there a small part of you that watches in hopes that you'll find something about Kate you can complain about? Honestly, I'm not trying to be a smart butt, I really want to know. Cuz I know for me if I don't like a show or any of the people on the show I don't watch, plain & simple; because I know certain things are just gonna bother me and rub me the wrong way and instead of complaining I just don't watch. What enjoyment do you get by watching someone you think is flawed so much?

It seems your tone would say otherwise ;)

Honestly, I watch an episode here or there. The kids ARE soooo cute. They are worth watching once in a while. I don't hate Kate. I do find her neurotic and sometimes over the top. But she chose to be on television and therefore OUT there for the public to see.

Nope, but then again sometimes you never quite come across the right way over the internet. But if I were talking face to face to you, you'd see my tone is just fine. Just one person asking another person a question. I made the final question in red so it'd stand out but I guess I should have done blue or pink. My bad. lol

i watch it because my kids decide the programing in this house. they like it, i cringe while watching it.

I no longer watch the show actually. DH pointed out to me that I was helping her ratings even if I just watched and ranted to him the entire time. So I turned it off and haven't looked back. I do get the displeasure of keeping up with the show from the net though because there are so many threads about it. I need to 'turn off' whenever I see one of them I think! LOL I fell into this one by accident since the title didn't give away what it was about. ;)

I was referring to the first few lines of your post and was only teasing back. It seemed you were teasing. Sorry if you weren't. No biggie. :)

I had to answer your question even though I am not a Kate basher. In the beginning, I enjoyed watching Jon and Kate and their chaos. They had chaos that I could relate to, and I guess they even made me feel better about my chaos. Now; however, I find myself turning the channel in mid show because the original feel and appeal of the show has undeniably changed. I really enjoyed the first few seasons but now with their newly found "celebrity" status and self inflicted drama, I can find better things to watch. BUT....I have recently started watching faithfully again because.....I am so CURIOUS as to how Jon's hair plugs are going to grow in. :lmao: Terrible I know, but it is true!
