I posted about this a long time ago when it first happened, but my dad has to go to court today because he's being sued. It's stressing him out to the point that I'm worried about his health.
About four years ago, he had his antique car in a parade. As they were crossing through some side streets, a woman drove through and crossed the parade route and my dad hit her -- that much was his fault, and he didn't see her at all, didn't expect anyone to be crossing the parade route. Fortunately, one of his nieces was there when it happened and she got a bunch of pictures. The woman's car door got dented, but she was able to open it and she was out and about, and refused treatment.
About two years later, just a day before the statute of limitations was up, she filed a lawsuit against him. The insurance company has been taking care of everything, but it's been killing my parents having to worry about this. They've never been through anything like this before. It's all so fishy. This woman has been in numerous accidents, including one about a week after my dad hit her. Each time she's gone to the same doctor and keeps getting the same diagnosis. BUT, the first time she went to the doctor was after the accident that happened AFTER my dad's.
One thing that worries me is that in the four years since this has happened, my dad's hearing and general bearing has deteriorated to the point where he can't hear anything, and he can't even walk upright. I'm afraid they're going to take one look at him and that'll be it! My sister and I will be there today to take notes and try to make sure he understands what's being said.
Anyway, sorry so long. Just wanted to get some thoughts and pixie dust for my dad today.
