Because we've had some less-than-welcoming responses to posts here recently, I think this is a good time for reminder of our rules and purpose.

Our members have a wealth of knowledge about WDW, and our mission here is to welcome questions and help each other plan vacations in a fun and friendly environment.

If a poster cannot answer questions in a friendly and welcoming manner, that poster should refrain from responding! What you may think of as "friendly ribbing" may be taken as rude or sarcastic in the context of a post to someone who does not know you. Please keep this in mind and avoid making comments that may be seen as rude.

For anyone with questions about our guidelines, you can review them here: DISboards Guidelines

If you notice a post that is rude or otherwise violates our guidelines, please use the little red triangle you'll see on each post to report that post to our moderators.

If you have questions or problems with the guidelines, please address those to our team of webmasters at admin@wdwinfo.com. Arguments or complaints about the rules on the forums will be seen as disruptive and be deleted.

Thanks for keeping the DISboards a helpful and friendly place where we can all talk about and plan our Disney vacations! :thumbsup2

Kathy - Point taken, however, this announcement would be more appropriate on the Just For Fun - Community Board. Those people are brutal over there and I seldom see any hand slapping, threads pulled, or any repercussions. If we're going to mete out warnings and punishment, let's be even-handed across the whole board and not single out the camping board.

Here, what seems like an attack from an outsiders point of view, is just friendly banter. Most of us have been on this board for several years, have met one another, developed friendships, and ever consider each other family. There is one person on this board who reports anything and everything that they are not in agreement with (which is just about anything), and cries wolf (and runs to mods) when you dare disagree. One bad apple can spoil a whole bushel, so all I'm asking is, take a look at the whole picture before you dish out warnings. 99% of us get along just fine. 1% does not - and other than loving to be argumentative, I don't understand why the 1% sticks around.

splat!!!!!!!

(Ooops, I think I missed)!!!

Hey, the thread on the main board got closed...and Lisa got the last word.

:woohoo: Woo hoo for Lisa!!!

Ohhhh-HANA!!!!!!

And that's all I have to say about that.

I come to the Dis to share information about WDW which I love and to have fun and to joke with many friends here. When it stops being fun, and when I can't talk about drunk otters, salacious peacocks, and other general tom foolery then it is no longer fun.

After 36 years in the army - 38 years in the business world and 3 combat deployments (not including a deployment to the Trade Center) I need to kid around a little (or a lot). I have found this board and my friends here to be a great release.

I hope it continues to be a haven for "DISrespectful" campers.

Kathy,

While I don't mean any disrespect, I have to agree with other posters who feel that posting a group message like this seems to be a bit over the top. If there are genuine problems with certain posters, that should be handled in a private manner.

Everyone on this board was new to this board at one time. The number of posters who have stuck around should be proof enough that this board is, as a whole, friendly and welcoming.

I can think of only one time that I was half-way treated rudely, and it was not by any member that I believe your post was directed towards. In fact, it was done by a poster who notoriously baits the majority of posters (I won't even say regulars, because at the time, I wouldn't have considered myself to be a regular.), yet he never seems to receive any type of discipline, despite the fact that he has been reported numerous times. Rather than he receive any discipline, it's always directed at those that he baits or belittles. That coupled with an across-the-board post such as yours, leads a lot of posters on the camping board to feel as though we're being singled out.

Once again, I'm not trying to be rude or show any disrespect. I understand that you must feel very strongly about the situation in order to post such an across-the-board thread such as this one. All I'm asking is that any moderator or administrator who is dealing with conflicts on this board takes a hard look at both sides.
