I posted recently that my Sept fare went down. Today, I noticed someone on the Budget Board said their SW fare just went down, so I checked today and yep, mine went down again, too. I think it was only about $12/ticket but I had booked with points so I was able to get 900+ points back into my account for 2 tickets :hyper:

Unfortunately mine went up from what I saw about 2 weeks ago. I finally booked Wed night because I'm afraid it will go up again. :-(
You are giving me hope so I'll keep checking.

Thanks for this thread! I've been looking at some flights and toying with the idea of flying instead of driving on one of our future trips, but it was so expensive. Because of your post, I decided to take a peek again today, and the price on those flights had dropped by almost half! Booked.

Oh my goodness - I just checked mine and it is way lower! How do I get the refund?

Go to the SW website and click on "Change flight." It will ask for your name and reservation number. Then it will show you your flights and you check which ones you want to change (both legs for RT or just one for one way). Then click on 'choose new flight times' or something like that and pick what you want (which can be the same exact flights). When you click next, it will show you the cost difference and if there is a refund due, it will ask if you want to save the refund for a future flight or, if you booked a refundable flight, you can have it put back on your cc. Then you click to accept and that's it. To use the refund toward a later flight, you'll need to keep the reservation number for the original, so be sure to keep that handy. You can go through all of the steps up to the accept page just to check.

What if you book one of those online-only nonrefundable tickets? No refund or credit then, is that right?

The southwest getaway fares or whatever it's called? That's not refundable but you can still credit is the price drops. It's exactly what is being talked about here. If you book a refundable fare then it's refundable.

The credit has to be used inside a year from when you FIRST booked though. If you won't be able to use a credit, there's no point in checking.

I was able to get a credit for a future flight for the difference. I always monitor SW fares when I've booked a trip. I only buy non refundable online tickets from southwest.com

Just checked our flights for November. I can save $20 on our flights and fly out of the closer airport. Between the $20 savings in airfare and saving the $5 in bridge tolls, it works out to a push with the more expensive parking. Still a closer airport, so I went ahead and made the change.

Definitely worth it to use a closer airport IMO.

I just got another 3300 pts back into my account for my Dec. flight. Yay!

I just had points put back into my account as I booked our flight with points to begin with.

I was able to get our next trip to Disneyland for only $33 round trip for 2 people. That was a combination of points (one way x 2 people) and the travel credits from previous flights when the price went down.

I love Southwest. I like the no change fees and the no luggage fees.

Good work! And I totally agree. SW has been very good to me! The no-change-fee thing is such a valuable perk for us.

looks like there are some good prices into lax right now. different than the prices yesterday. :cheer2:

Because of this thread I decided to take a look at airfares. Good grief we will be flying now!!! The whole family for $336. We are JUST outside of the 14 day window although I'm not sure how much that matters.

Less time not the road and more time in the parks for us.

Thanks Guys!!! :cool1::banana:
