We're flying AirTran to Orlando at Thanksgiving from Indianapolis (Nov. 22-27). I check fares every few days to see if they have gone down, and noticed today that our 2:56 p.m. non-stop flight on Nov. 27th was changed to 10:51 a.m.! Our trip is short enough as is, so I REALLY don't want to leave Orlando in the morning. I noticed the change online, called them, and got an even later non-stop return flight instead. We were put on the 5:47 p.m. flight, which I would've booked originally - had it not cost more than the mid-afternoon flight. I'm glad I noticed this change 3.5 months before the trip.

Good reminder. Keep checking your flight times. I just flew AirTran this week and there was a flight at the gate next to us that had changed flight times - apparently at the last minute. After the gate closed I saw at least 10 people rushing to the gate to board. They were not permitted on the plane. I over-heard one conversation mentioning the last minute time change. Fortunately it has not happened to me but I will be sure to double check my times on the next flight.

Glad there was another non-stop flight that worked for you.

AirTran only has one non stop out of MSP. I booked it last year (for Friday after Thanksgiving for a week) and the times changed dramatically for me. I changed the flight down to a 1 stop but decided to just live with the return flight.

I will not book AirTran again unless there is a REALLY BIG difference in the price ($100 or more per person RT).

Neither NWA nor Sun County seem to tinker with flight times as much as AirTran does. I'm OK with changes up to an hour, but 5 or 6 hours is NOT OK with me for most trips. For our fall 2007 trip, I held off booking airfare and was able to get SC for a good price AirTran's most recent sale is a few dollars less than the SC price I paid, but I am still happy - I just know AT will be adjusting its non stop schedule before departure and it probably won't be in my favor, LOL.

What is it with them getting rid of the non stop flights? One day I was checking went from 3 non stops available down to only 1 now~

They probably were not filling 3. I was on an Air Tran flight from PIT where the back half of the plane was empty. They cutback from 2 to 1.
