Keep checking for AP rates?

I have a reservation for POR in early Nov. I have been told by CRO that no AP rates are available for the time of my reservation. Is it worth the time and effort to continue calling back every day? I assumed (incorrectly, I guess) that if we had APs, we would get an AP rate. Thoughts?

AP rates are just like all the other discounted rates (AAA, Disney Club, special codes, etc.) in that Disney only sets aside a certain number of rooms for each code. Some resorts may not even have any availability for a given discount code, as there are no (or very few) rooms open, so there is no need to discount. Having AAA, AP, DC, etc. does not guarantee you a rate. It only means that you are eligible, if there is availability at your resort for your dates.

That said, I think it is definitely worth the time to keep calling back. People do cancel or change dates, groups release rooms they haven't sold, etc. and more availability may open up. I'd try checking first thing in the morning. The computers seem to dump unpaid/cancelled reservations overnight, so availability is fresher in the AM. Also ask if ANY of your dates are available at the AP rate. It may be that only one or two of your dates are unavailable at the AP rate, but you can book the available dates individually and keep trying for the ones you lack. But the CM will not check individual dates unless you ask -- only the entire stay. Sorry for your disappointment, but maybe it will work out in the end.

piglet801-
keep checking back from time to time...also as stated in a previous reply, have the rep check about available AP rates for any of your travel dates.
I did this for a 5 night stay at the CBR in Dec. and was able to secure 3 nights with the AP rate and the rep at the time told me to keep checking back...so I've been calling CRO every 3-4 days. As it stands now, I have two reservations (one for 2 nights and one for 3) and am hoping the get the AP rate for all 5 nights by the time we leave.
Someone here on the DIS mentioned that I should contact (FAX) the CBR before we arrive and let them know about the two reservations and request to continue to stay in the same room.
Good luck...:D

I also will be in WDW in early Nov and have been calling to try to switch to a different resort. FOr the time we'll be there I've been informed by CRO on almost every call that they are very booked for that week (11/1-11/9).

HOWEVER back in 2001 when we stayed at the Poly I initially could only get an AP rate for 1/2 the nights were were there. I was told over and over that I would "never" get the AP rate for all the nights because the resort was sold out for 1 of the weekeds we were staying.

After many, MANY, MANY calls I finally got all the dates I wanted at the AP rate, so being persistant can pay off! I always had better luck calling right when they opened, so maybe you can try that angle if it's an option for you.

Good luck!

Thanks for the replies? It seems all suggest calling first thing in the morning. What time do they begin taking calls?

I believe it still is 7:00 am eastern time when CRO opens.

You can never tell. I got an AP rate at AKL for the weekend before Thanksgiving yesterday. (Of course I have to cancel it because it turns out I am double booked that weekend!)
