Keens help

I see a lot of people raving about Keens and how comfy they are. I bought a pair about 5 yrs ago because of this, but never wore them on any of our trips! After trying them on and wearing them to work a few times, I was always afraid my foot would fall out the back, stupid fear considering i wear flip flops for 95% of our trips.

I want to wear them this year, so i can finally get my moneys worth out of them. Do i need to break them in, does anyone else besides me worry that their foot will come out?

ETA: What about when it rains, do they get slippery?

I love my Keens, but I didn't have the ones with an open back. If you were to get a pair in the future with a closed back, I'd definitely say to wear them! They're great with rain (I wore mine hiking a lot because of water and such) and they don't risk coming untied at all!

I'm not fond of the open heal myself but I see many folks wearing simple flip flops in the parks. Not my idea of comfort. But, the Keens are probably head and shoulders above simple flip flops. I would wear them (or any shoe) around before hand to get used to them and make sure they are comfortable long term. My wife does this to break them in but they start out pretty comfy to me. Personally I wear the Targhee II shoe daily, including in the parks, the Newport H2 sandal and the Rialto sandal. I've worn all three on Disney trips with no issues. Both of those sandals have a heal strap though.

I'm guessing the open back is my problem. I'll try wearing them and breaking them in before we go...luckily i still have 3 months

I wear Keen Whispers just about every weekend. They are the best to wear in rain, IMO.

I like the Keen Clearwater, it has a closed back.

Your photo looks like the Whisper slide. I wear Whisper, but not the slide. Mine is the closed back and I love them. They're very lightweight and so comfortable. I can't remember the last time I wore athletic shoes & socks to Disney World because I always wear my Keens!
