Keen sandals for kids, or something similar

I'm looking for some Keen-like sandals for my daughter this summer. She can't wear regular sandals to school, but I think these would work well.

Like these: http://www.keenfootwear.com/product/ss10/shoes/kids/toddler/newport h2/purple

I prefer to spend $25-30 and I am open to options other than Keen, but really like that style.

Any recs??

TIA!!!

I am a huge Keen fan, and own a number of pairs of their shoes/sandals. They didn't have these shoes when my DS was little, or I would have purchased them in a heartbeat (maybe not purple though :)). Keens are very comfortable and wear like iron. Also, maybe TMI, but they never stink. I wear mine mainly without socks and they still always smell great. That is not the case with other shoes I have owned. I know that sweaty feet and stinky shoes can be problems for little ones too, so this is another positive.

My 3 kids wore them all last summer.

My oldest (will be 9 in May) can still fit in hers (yay!!). My son (6), I need to get him a new pair & my youngest (4) is now wearing my ds's from last year although they are still a bit big but she likes them.

I have them too & mine don't stink & I do walk in them (I took a 3.5 mile walk today in them) but my kids...I don't know what they do differently to the kids shoes but seriously they stink. None of their other shoes are that bad.

A friend told me her feet/shoes would stink & I didn't think that was possible but it is.

Good thing is that you can throw them in the washing machine which we do weekly or more if needed.

My DD6 wore TEVA all last summer. They were pink with a closed toe, yet still a "water" like shoe for when we went to Busch Gardens and for our trip to
US/IOA.......my girl LOVES her water rides. I got them at Bass Pro Shop for around $40 and definately got my money's worth out of them. I'm hunting a new pair for her for this summer.

I have Keen's for myself and I LOVE them.

LOVE keens.
My kids all LOVE theirs as well.
In particular the pair you are looking at. I was able to score them on sale in a little shop.
Also in the past I have gotten them on sale at Nordstrom, Zappos, and sometimes lucky at Sierratradingpost

I think Keen changed something a year or so back. DS's Keens didn't used to start stinking until the end of summer. Last year, they started stinking right away.

I still love them and think they are a great investment (he wears them every day for about 5-6 months). I'll be buying a pair for this year soon.

This is helping a lot. I'm taking it Keen's are worth the investment....my daughter can be tough on her shoes.

My daughters (2 and 5) both have the Sunport Keen Sandals like THESE.

They have been croc wearers forever, and the sunports are made of the same type of waterproof plastic/rubber stuff that crocs is made from...even the laces and the loops for the eyelets have some sort of coating on them so they are waterproof too. They love them, and wear them constantly, and don't want their crocs anymore. :thumbsup2

I would vote yes. As I previously stated, I found TEVA (Dozer style in Pink)for my DD and they held up very well and she's hard on shoes too. I would say take your kiddo with you if you can to say a Bass Pro, Gander Mountain type store and let her try them on and see which she likes :)

I didn't notice any stinkiness with either the TEVA or the Keen's last summer. She wore them all summer w/o socks and never complained that they hurt, nor did they rub any blisters (which for her feet, crocs do so we avoid those).

Hey, I'm in Richmond! Small World. I know Bass Pro is in Ashland, do we have Gander Mtn? I'm thinking REI at Short Pump will have them too?

Gander Mtn is just down the road from Bass Pro in Ashland. I was NOT impressed with REI in short pump at all. In fact, they had zip for kids in the shoe dept!
