I will be there next week and I would love to try the keel boats. I did a search but couldn't find the answer. So for anyone who has visited this summer are they back on?:)

Hi we went at the beginning of August and we managed to go on them. Although we went past nearer the end of our holiday and they weren't running.

Any chance they will be open in October? Or am I being hopelessly optomistic? :lmao:

During July we noticed that the keel boats were mostly open at weekends :)
Only on one occassion did we find lines of less than 40 minutes. So only managed one trip :goodvibes

I know they were originally planned to run until the 26th August, however has any one heard if they will still be running in October?

Edit: Sorry I didn't realise that I'd asked this question on another thread today! Sorry

Don't worry I've just merged the threads :thumbsup2

Thanks! Think I got a bit excited over the Keelboats yesterday, even since I saw them running on the video I watched from 1994 I have this urge to go on them again!!

We never managed to get on them :sad2: they were listed at City Hall as running Wednesday to Sunday only but when we went along on those days they were always closed but when we were in the FP queue for BTM on Monday afternoon we saw them out on the river :confused3 until we managed to make it over there and found them closed yet again.

Oh well, never mind, something to put on the "to-do" list for next time!! ;)

It's strange but we managed to get on them last November without a queue despite the fact that everywhere else was positively heaving, I assumed it was because the entrance is tucked out of the way and not many people knew about them. :confused3

They were running and we went on them with a ten minute wait on Thursday afternoon.
The CM explained that they are not putting them on the map just yet as they only open them when they have enough CMs around and on days when there are lots of guests looking for extra things to do.
They follow the same route as you take on the Molly Brown or Mark Twain so its just another pleasant break from the crowds. We enjoyed the ride and the chance to do something that isn't always open.

We loved it on Thursday. After waiting 15 mins on Thursday morning, we took a cruise on the Racoon and had a great time with a Spanish cast member speaking English, Spanish and French. Shame the old guy was missing from the cabin and the Geysers were not working, bone dry.

Missed out doing them this time, but yeah the Geysers are bone dry, quite a disappointment. The Old man is still on holiday somewhere. Was going to do the Keelboats today, but 45 minute wait. Forgot about them the other days =/

The real shocks for me were the fact that only the Molly Brown was running in peak season, and that the wheelers stopped at sun down :-(

I was very disappointed in that too. I'd fancied going on her in the dark.

We also did the keel boats on Thursday afternoon. We had to wait about 30 minutes to get on, but it was a pleasant ride and we saw some things we hadn't seen before. One of the cast members held a gun up to me at the end when I tried to get off the boat too soon! He said I'd have to swim if I fell in! ;)
