I watched an interview with her where she was talking about her "Bad Romance" song. She intertwined a bunch of Alfred Hitchcock film titles as part of the song in, I thought, a fairly clever lyric.

That's interesting...I didn't know that. Does she write and produce her own music? I haven't heard her sing live, which for me, is an indication of how good someone can actually sing. I've only heard her on the radio, which is a lot of mixing nowadays. In some of her songs, her voice sounds stronger than in others, but, her crazy and flamboyant costumes for me, detract from her songs, so I don't much listen to her. She is so overplayed here on the radio, that it's constant overkill.

A better indication will be what she puts out for her sophomore album.

I'm pretty sure Lady Gaga writes at least some of her songs. And she does play the piano, too. Her voice is not Celine Dion quality, but she can sing live without all the tricks. I'm old, and I actually like some of her music. I just recently said the same thing to my DH. He hates all pop music, and I pointed out to him that at least Lady Gaga has talent. And I don't get why she is called a Madonna wanna-be. So from now on, anyone who wears outlandish costumes is copying Madonna? I'm sure there was someone before Madonna that we could say she copied.

But I totally agree with everyone on Ke$ha.

I don't think *she* wants to be Madonna but much of her theatrics are very Madonna-ish. Her Alejandro video is VERY reminiscent of several Madonna videos (Vogue and Like A Prayer come to mind) plus she admits to be a huge fan of Madonna and Elton John and channels them frequently.

I have to admit that I have never heard him sing. I just can't stand that teeny bopper stuff. I hate the Jonas brothers, Mily Cyrus and all those guys. Well their music, I am sure they may be nice people. I did listen to the you tube thing. He is ok, not great. I just can't stand the high pitched teenaged voice and for some reason I can't stand to look at him either.

I am really lucky in that my DD 11 isn't into any of those guys either. We raised her right, lol. She does like some of Lay GaGa. But is happiest listening to ACDC, Aerosmith, and stuff like that. It is a good thing because I would absolutely refuse to take her to any of those concerts done by the latest teenage fad out there, It just makes me want to puke. I didn't even like them when I was a teenager.

I used to not be a fan of Lady Gaga until I saw her perform live. She was incredible. Played the piano and belted out a few of her songs without all of the theatrics. She really was awesome, so I have become a fan of hers. I am not a fan of her videos, but I do like the songs. And yes, she wrote every single one of her songs on this album and writes for numerous other people.

Kesha is terrible. She looks like trash and acts like she is drunk most of the time.

I too wonder how Ke$ha got a record contract, as she isn't a great singer (it's weird as a musician I know who is an amazing vocalist was turned down by the label who signed Ke$ha ). Her songs are also very poorly simplistic and unoriginal, I just can't see anything that could make her as successful as she has got.

I never knew how many references to Hitchcock there was until I actually read the lyrics line from line. I like also how on The Fame Monster each song is about one of her "own monsters": fear of love, fear of....etc.

I think Lady GaGa is the only performer in pop music today that has kept my faith in pop music these days (well her and Lily Allen....edit: forgot Imogen Heap has since 2005 too).

I realized two things: 1) The remake was horrible and 2) 25 years ago you did not have to be attractive to be a pop star. You needed actual talent. I think it's completely the opposite these days.

Ke$ha sang for "free" on Flo-Rida's "You Spin Me Right Round". She sang the "hook" part of the song and it actually sounded good. Since her hook made the song pretty popular, she got a contract of her own.

The only reason HE got that song was because he dad was a record producer, and the ONLY reason that song was popular was because his dad got MJ to do the hook chorus to it.

Really! Hadn't heard about that one yet. I did read an article in the news rolleyes about Bieber being all upset with the choice of photograph a magazine used for their cover; he didn't like the way he was smiling or something, yeesh.

If that magazine cover that he was complaining about was the People cover, then I'm right there with him. That was one scary cover.
