Friday 25th October 2002 – Day Two

Up early today for EE(early entry) at Animal Kingdom, on the bus at 7.30am. We exchanged our Annual Pass vouchers at Guest Relations and entered the park at 8am. Breakfast today was at Donald’s Breakfastaurus, a first day tradition. A great breakfast here, we filled up for the day. We saw Mickey, Goofy, Donald and Pluto and had some lovely photos. I had the ketchup trip played on me. After this we went on the Safari and saw the wonderful animals. Last year we missed out Rafiki’s Planet Watch, so we took the train ride out to this. They were operating on a big gorilla taking his tooth out, I loved watching this. We did It’s tough to be a bug and Dinosaur before the first day heat got to us both. So we headed back to the Boardwalk.

A quick change and then we went to the Luna Park pool for a splash. This is a great pool, it wasn’t crowded at all. I wish we had spent more time here.

We were meeting friends at AKL for dinner at Boma’s. We were really looking forward to this as I have heard so much about the place. We got a boat to MGM and then transferred to a bus to get to AKL. We arrived earlier than planned – but then had a chance to explore the lodge. It has a very dark feel just like WL, it looked so grand. We sat out on the rockers until it was time to meet for dinner.

At 5pm we met up with Mike and Di. We last saw them on our 2000 trip. We ‘met’ by trading Disney beanies on the Internet. Since our beanie trading Di has also got me addicted to pins. We swapped presents. I had about 20 pins and a lanyard – some of the pins were exclusive cast member and lanyard pins. Alan had a lovely present too. I had brought a Winnie the Pooh photo frame over from the UK with us for Mike and Di. Di is the ‘biggest’ pooh fan around.

Dinner at Boma’s was gorgeous, I can’t remember what I had but we tried a little of everything. The Zebra Domes were lovely. Di must have told our server that we were celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary. She brought out a gorgeous display of chocolates and biscuits and written in chocolate underneath was Happy 2nd Anniversary. There was also a card signed by some of the other server’s too.

After dinner we headed to DTD for some essential shopping. Di and I love to shop and pin trade. I got a great scrapbooking album and some set’s. I love the atmosphere of DTD. We didn’t spend too long shopping as we had another full evening planned. Mike and Di dropped us off at the Boardwalk.
Wow what a great 1st day.

Saturday 26th October 2002 – Day Three

Our plan today was Typhoon Lagoon. So we had a lie-in and then Bagels and coffee in the room for breakfast. We hopped on the bus and arrived just before opening. We rented towels and a locker and brought the refillable mugs that you can use at both water parks.

The big wave here is great. DH was like a little kid wanting to go as far to the front as he can. We did Keelhaul falls, Mayday falls and the family raft ride, I enjoyed all of these. I am glad we squeezed this water park in as it was closing today. Alan rode Humunga Kowabunga and Storm Slides on his own – far too scary for me.

We decided to have a go at the Shark Reef. Now I am not a good swimmer at the best of times – let alone when there are sharks underneath me! We put on our snorkelling gear and set off in the pool. Now you are supposed to swim over slowly taking in all the little fishes and big sharks. Alan said I must have thought it was a race, because I got to the other end really quickly. I put it down to the fact I have never snorkelled before and I was scared stiff. Saying that though – I would do it again and take my time.

We spent about 4 hours here, which was long enough with my fair skin so we headed back to the Boardwalk for a shower and change.

We set out at teatime for the Magic Kingdom. On arrival our 1st port of call was of course the Buzz ride followed quickly by Alien Encounter – I like this I manage to scare myself quite a lot.

We had dinner at Peco Bills, I was very disappointed that they had no veggie burgers on the menu, so I had fries and lettuce. We settled down in a spot outside for Spectro. I managed to film all of this and the fireworks too. We slowly walked down Main Street and out to the Bus Stop with millions of other people. We managed to get on the second boardwalk bus. We went to Seashore Sweets on the Boardwalk for Ice Cream and then back to our room to eat it on the balcony. Another great day!

Another great report Kaylee - sounds so idylic!

Boma's is something else isnt it? Shirley and I had a great meal there and loved everything except we found the table seating a little too close together? Did you find this too?

AKL is stunning too isnt it?

Was it really your 2nd anniversary??? I cant believe that time has gone so quickly!

:) :) :)
