Kathy.. Ocean City MD question

Love those claw machines for little ones. I let Ethan get a whole bag of junk for $3 (they are still 10 cents). Jungle golf a Jolly Rodgers was always my favorite as a kid. They closed down the old pro golf just off the boards our other favorite.

After my husband died we had thought about moving to Ocean Pines. My kids always wanted to be closer to OC.

We were gonna move down there too but decided on Florida just like you. We are still trying to sell our house. 3 years later. This is getting kinda crazy. I would be interested in hearing how you picked where to move in Florida. The people at the hospital that gave my husband a job offer said to look in Palm Bay it is about an hour and 15 min south of Disney. He surfs so it has to be closer to the east coast for us. I am just happy to be closer to Disney than 16 hours. LOL.

We looked into going last summer but it was cheaper for us to go to WDW. Plus, while we live just across the bay bridge, with summer traffic we'd get to Orlando faster.

I only have to drive thirty min to get to O.C.!! I LOVE Dough Roller!!! But my favorite is all the Put-Put!!

They had a dough roller here in our town but it closed and was replaced with a high-end seafood restaurant. *Just* what a town of mostly families needs.:confused3:confused3:confused3

I actually tend to head over to OC after my Disney trips to recover. As for Thrashers..... they are my first stop when I get in, and my last on the way out. And why has no one mentioned sunsets at Fagers Island?? That whole ceremony actually reminds me of Disney every time.

I have not been to Fagers for Happy Hour and sunsets in years. I think it was back when Batman used to DJ it. :rotfl:

Batman is still around you know. Now a days he's hosting a weekly OC tv show talking about the goings on around town. He also pops up at diffrent clubs from time to time.

I loved Batman on the TV. How is he looking these days.

In the 30 plus years of going to OC I never did sunsets at Fagers Island.

He looks OLD. I didnt realize he was still DJing from time to time. Who was that crazy nutball guy I think the "Stallion" he always said Bingo Baby. He was so weird. Wasnt there some scandal or something with him.

We knew we wanted to move close to the parks. We did think about Cocoa and Christmas but decided we wanted to be much closer to WDW.

When I put the house on the market the first person was the one that bought the house. We had just come out of Mission Space when I got the voice mail that the lady wanted the house. I knew it was meant to be.

I was lucky that my job at the time transferred with me. I just needed to be close to an airport to fly out quite often.

I love where we live since it is a little more than an hour to either coast. It used to be 9-10 hours to get to water.

I came down on a long weekend and looked at 30 houses. I wasn't liking any of them. Finally we saw a for sale by owner and that is the house I bought. I had less than a month to buy a house and move. The people I bought the house from wanted to move quickly so it all worked out.

The Friday I moved from PA. it was 70 degrees in December. About an hour later we had one of those thunderstorm snows and it snowed that entire weekend. I flew out of town on Monday to beautiful Orlando. My daughter met me with my car. It has been wonderful ever since. :):banana: Of course I love love love being close to WDW.

* Jealous * Great story!!! I hope that is me some day. :goodvibes

On the other topic. That stallion guy was a weirdo freak. We saw him one time leaving a bar and he was in this beat up old Benz. My nephews were drunk and yelling we love you Stallion (with much drunken sarcasm). I was the nice aunt that picked them up from the bars if they called me. My husband said there was some underage girl scandal with him and he got the boot. :scared1:

Jon, Sorry for the complete hijack of your thread. And a big thank you for bringing me and the others down a memory lane of sorts. It was fun remembering today. Takes a bit of the sting out of having to sell our beach house this week. :guilty: Nice getting to know everyone better and esp you OC lovers of present and past.

I live in oc. It has priced itself out. The cost of living is crazy. The poster who said it is cheaper to vacation at Disney is right. We are moving to Florida later this year after the summer season. Oh, and the stallion guy owned the hurricane night club and they got busted for serving underage and watering down the liquor bottles.

Watering down the liquor what a loser :lmao:

Don’t worry about hijacking the post, I thought that was the whole point:thumbsup2. My wife and I have discussed moving down to FL many times over the years. I have some family in Tampa and lord knows I actually feel more alive when I am down there not to mention the amount of money we would save on trips but the truth is, I would really have to get a job working for Disney to convince myself it would be worth the sacrifice of the move. Most of my family is in Baltimore, I live within walking distance from all siblings and parents, not to mention in laws and assorted others. I was born and raised here and still have a lot of very close friends nearby. There are 15 guys I went to kindergarten with and we get together every other week to hang out. (I'm in my 30's now) I am friendly with David Diney who is the head of HR for the MK but any type of position that would pay me enough to survive would have to be in corporate so David’s help can only really go so far and in today’s economy..... So until my big lotto win kicks in, it looks like its Baltimore / Ocean City for me and my continued efforts to head down to the world every opportunity I get. Although I promised my wife I would take her to Israel next time so it’s going to be a while before I see sunny Florida again. Thank God for the DIS though; the boards and the pod cast help me get my fix. And thank you Kathy for the pics, although they do make me jealous.

Both of my vacations for the past three years have been one week to OC Maryland and one week to Disney. My husband, son and I love both for equally different reasons. The week we go to OC we share a week with my sister and a friend's family and when I go to disney it's with only my husband son and I. The OC Maryland week has always been cheaper than my Disney week, but both mean so much to me and my family. They are both totally different experiences.
