I am so saddened by her passing. She was my favorite actress and always will be. But she lived a long and full life and has left us a marvelous legacy.
While I loved her on-screen pairings with Spencer Tracy (who is also one of the greatest ever), my favorites would be her pairings with Cary Grant. "Bringing Up Baby" is absolutely hysterical.
"The Philadelphia Story" is a true classic. If you've never had the opportunity to see "Holiday", check it out. It's also a delight.
In the early eighties, I worked in the Turtle Bay area in Manhattan about 2 blocks from her NYC townhouse. She was often seen riding her bicycle around the area or out sweeping her stoop! About this time, I had the great pleasure of seeing her perform on Broadway in a play entitled "The West Side Waltz".
It may not have been the best vehicle, but she was marvelous and I felt honored to watch her at work.
She will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace.
