Katherine Hepburn has died

DD11 is named for Ms. Hepburn. I wanted to name DD for a strong woman and she definitely fit the bill. Shortly after DD was born I wrote to Ms. Hepburn and enclosed a picture of my Katharine. I explained why we had named our daughter after her and said that if she grew up to be half as strong as she (Ms. Hepburn) was I'd be happy. We received a lovely note back from her...which is now framed and hanging in DDs room. It reads, in part...

"Dear Katharine,

May you find life a happy adventure."

I thought these words were very fitting for a woman whose life definitely seemed to take the course of a "happy adventure".

The note means even more now.

So Sad. She was a great actress. Chris' Favorite.

My favorite movies of hers are "Woman of the Year", "Adam's Rib", and "Stage Door".

How sad. She will be missed.
David Brinkley, Richard Cusack, Hume Cronyn , Leon Uris, Strom Thurmond, and Gregory Peck all died this month.
So much for the saying that death always comes in threes.

My dad worked on the film 'On Golden Pond' I was to little to remember, but he says Ms. Hepburn was great. A bit of trivia from the film, Ms. Hepburn wasn't the best boat driver so they had scuba divers under her boat always making sure it was going the right way and that she didn't capsize. She was an amazing actress and I am sure she must be with Spencer Tracy right now.

I liked "Bringing Up Baby" myself...I found it interesting how much of an influence it was on the 1987 Madonna movie "Who's That Girl?".

Madonna is no Katharine Hepburn...

R.I.P The Great Kate.

Sincerely,

John "anotherboardnposter" Kilduff

Thanks for that trivia, SuprGro. How interesting!!

She was a wonderful, wonderful actress. I will miss her.

Wow, I didn't realize she was that old. Another loss of a great actress

This is so sad. I LOVE The Philadelphia Story, Sea of Grass and Desk Set to name just a few. She was one of those rare talents, one of those that tower way up above the rest. :(

Even though she was up in years and ill with Parkinson's, somehow you thought she'd go on forever. I really enjoyed the comedy films like Bringing Up Baby and Philadelphia Story as much, if not more, than her more dramatic turns.

This thread has hit most of the highlights but I see one important film that, like Miss Hepburn, had an effect on our society...."Guess Who's Coming to Dinner". It was also her farewell to Spencer who died several weeks after filming ended.

Another legend has passed. :(

May she rest in peace.

It's not very often that the passing of an actor or actress makes me truly sad. This is one of those times. Ms Hepburn was a great lady who did things her way. In the process she gave us some of the greatest performances ever to have been captured on film.

Thank you Ms Hepburn for a lifetime of great entertainment. You will be sorely missed. :(

Roberta

Roberta, you said it very well...

I admired her lack of pretense and her amazing independence and fortitude.

The body of work she leaves behind is thoroughly amazing.

My favorite movie....

Fare well, Katharine.

Not only a legend, whose screen career spanned more than 50 years, and a towering talent who won an unprecedented 4 Academy Awards . . .

Katherine Hepburn was also fiercely independent and courageous enough to defy conventional stereotypes . . .

The passing of an era . . .:( :(

How sad!!! I loved all her movies and I am sure she will be greatly missed.
