Kate's Back on Track Journal - comments welcome

Kate, I haven't heard from you in awhile & am just checking in. I hope you're feeling better & getting your energy back.

Hi all,

I got over the cold/cough/sinus infection, and in fact started out the month doing well with the exercise challenge. Just been very busy at work, and now DH's work schedule is changing.

I hope this all works out. He's been on night shift since our 11 yr old DD was a baby. Now he's starting days, and it throws all kinds of things off. He has always been home with the kids in the afternoons while I work. Now he won't be there, they have to get rides home from school, etc.

Wish me luck! This also will mess with my exercise routine, as the times I used to be able to go to the gym, won't work anymore. URghhhhhhhh!!

He starts the new schedule Monday.

Good luck with the new schedule. I hope you end up liking it better than the other one. What do you think you're going to do about your workouts since you can't go to the gym? I used to go to the gym but when we moved further away I cancelled my membership. I ended up getting in some videos & free weights. I actually like working out at home better. I hated waiting for the machines. I did circuit training but there was always someone who would just stay on a machine forever and mess up my circuit. I love not dealing with that anymore. You'll get thru this!

Happy Holidays Kate!

I also want to wish you good luck with the new schedule - hope it's not too frantic and everyone adjusts. Glad to hear you are feeling better.

Hope you have a great holiday!

Keep on
Chris

Hi Jane, and Chris, thanks for stopping by.

Yes, the schedule change has taken some adjustment, but we're figuring it out as we go.

I've had to rearrange some things in my schedule, but I should still be able to get to the gym sometimes. I love going there, in the winter especially, since I won't run outside when its cold, they have an indoor track, as well as all the weight machines etc. There is also a pool, and my girls like to go swimming, so we do that sometimes, but I don't like it much - they don't keep the water warm enough for me! LOL I would rather spend my time in the sauna! I really need to move somewhere warm!

Eating has not been the best with all the cookies we've been making. Starting January 1, I'm really making an effort to do this!

Kate, hope you've had a great holiday. I'm so glad that you're posting & working out again. I see by your signature that you lived in Tampa at one time. Do you miss the bay area? It must be a lot different trying to workout in the winter when its freezing outside. Glad to see that you'll be able to hit the gym once in awhile. Thank God, the new year is just around the corner!

Hi Jane,

LOL I WISH I had lived in Tampa. Actually my grandparents lived there for years, and I spent a lot of time with them, so that explains the siggy note. I'd love to live there (well, maybe not hurricane season!) this cold gets harder to take every year.

I have a nephew who lives near Orlando (Oviedo) and my SIL and BIL, his parents, are leaving in a few hours to visit him for a week. Wish it was me!

Tomorrow starts my earnest effort at getting back to my solid goal weight and practicing good maintenance. The last few months have not been good with the food and exercise.

Just stopping by to wish you a happy New Years Eve! :Pinkbounc Here's to a happy, healthy, staying on program New Year!

Hi Kate-

Just wanted to check in on you and see how you are doing. Hope you have a great weekend!

Hi Jane, and Heather!

This year got off to a rocky start - the family has been sick, one gets a bad cold, then the next one gets it, finally I had it and was down for a week!

All better now (crossing fingers!) and finally back to working out. I have friends who workout even with colds, but I get congested and have asthma, when I workout when sick it just makes me feel worse.

Food has been doing ok. No big candy attacks so far!

I noticed some of you doing the BFL, I have a friend doing that but I haven't checked into it yet. WW has worked for me for the past, almost 4 years, I've just had a bit of trouble with maintenance the last 6 months or so.

Busy day today, but spent time at the gym. Picked up my parents from the airport, they spent the last week in Vegas and loved it!

ok, all for now. :sunny:

I'm glad to hear everyone is feeling better. My DD6 was SOOOO sick right before Christmas. Not fun!

You should check out BFL! They have a really good website www.bodyforlife.com and it is pretty easy to stick to (believe me, I am the queen of quitting and I've been able to stick to this for 2 weeks and counting!)

I'm sure you will be able to get into a routine with your new schedule. Hang in there!

I've been to the gym 3 days in a row now, this is so great. I love it, but my schedule is so hectic I don't get to do this very often. Enjoy it while it lasts!! :sunny:

Amy, the BFL does sound good, another friend said you have to buy their supplements etc. and it can get costly. That would be the thing that would hold me back, but the frequent meals and protein/carbs etc. I could handle.

Congratulations on three days at the gym!!!!

BFL wise I haven't had to buy their supplements. I have bought of their bars in the past and will do so again if I catch them on sale, but am now using different brands. Protein powder wise we use a different brand as well. :)

Today was a very bad morning - SNOW and I ended up cleaning off 3 cars, that right there was a workout though.

Did get to the gym for a short time 35 minutes on cardio.

Food has been ok. :sunny:

I have not bought any supplements. I eat a Balance bar for my morning snack, but all the other times I eat "real" food. The Balance bars have the same nutrients as the BFL bars and they are less expensive (especially when you can catch them on sale - I like to buy them at Target). I've found that eating the smaller meals keeps my energy up. It's something I think I could stick to long term.

You are like me - go to the gym when you can squeeze it in. Keep it up! :cheer2:

I think shovelling out 3 cars should count for weights and cardio!!

Yep, lots of upper body work there!!

Crazy thing is this weather here this year. Weds. it snowed, today it is 60 degrees!! I was just outside jogging! (Wish it would stay like this all winter - I wouldn't have to dream of moving to FLA!)

I was down a pound today, which I was surprised about a bit. Slowly but surely I'll get back to my maintenance area. Then just keep it there!

Thanks Jane for your support, and again, WTG!!

Amy, thanks for the info on the BFL. I have to look into it further and see if I want to try this.

I have a group of friends from WW (we met online) that are trying different things right now. One is really into the biggest loser, one girl is actually thinking of going to an audition for the show that is coming to her state! That would be fun to see someone on TV that is a real friend of mine!

Gotta go pickup the kids.... :sunny:

I've gotten out of the habit of journaling very faithfully, I do it on paper only and not every single day. I'm going to try posting here to see if that will help. :sunny:

0 coffee
2 yogurt
1 Kashi Go Lean
1 blueberries

45 minutes at the gym - 25 weight circuit (was really crowded today, I skipped a few things) 20 on cardio.

3 turkey
3 flaxseed/oatmeal bread
1 laughing cow wedge
0 spinach, tomato

104 oz. water so far

2 apple

2 pretzels
0 giant pickle

3 ginger snap stew

18 pts so far today. (shooting for 23)

2 dairy
5 f/v

We're going to a party tonight, tons of food will be there, and I know I'll have a few snacks. So I ate my stew hoping I won't be hungry, it will be more impulse eating because there are always yummy things. This is an after-Christmas party at some friends that we go to every year. party:

Great start back into journalling! I've found it makes me think twice about eating some junk - probably because I'm too lazy to record it...

I love Kashi GO Lean Crunch in yogurt! :goodvibes
