Day 7--Friday, May 13, 2005
Now it's time to say goodbye
I woke up early to do some last minute packing, and make the most of my final days at WDW. I decided to go to Spoodles for breakfast. I got the breakfast platter, which was excellent. It was all you care to eat breakfast bread, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and french toast. Everything was delicious and piping hot. The server stopped by several times to see if I wanted more of anything. At $11.99, I thought it was an excellent value (and it was even better with the Disney Dining Experience discount).
After breakfast, I made a quick stop at the room to brush my teeth, and pack up. I left my stuff in the room, and walked over to MGM to get a couple of rides on the Tower of Terror and the Rock 'N Roller Coaster. I road them twice each.
The second time I road on the Tower of Terror, I road with a really nice family from Toronto--Carol and her son Jason and daughter Jamie. Jamie was a bit apprehensive about going on the ride, so I told her a bit about the ride. I told her that she could try it, and if she didn't like it, she'd never have to go on it again, but if she loved it, she could drag her mom back in the line. They had mentioned that Jamie regretted not going on Summit Plummet at Blizzard Beach, and I said, "You don't want to regret missing this one too."
We chatted throughout the line, and the kids excitedly told me all about their trip. As we approached the elevator, I asked Carol if she minded if I joined their group for their ride so I could see how the kids reacted. They were all happy to let me join them. At one point, Jason let go of the handles for a few seconds, and quickly grabbed for them again. He said he was so scared that he couldn't even scream. Jamie said she enjoyed it, but didn't want to ride it again. Carol couldn't believe that she did that.
After riding the Tower of Terror, I said goodbye to Carol, Jamie, and Jason, and headed out of MGM. I walked back to the Boardwalk to check out and store my luggage. I took some time to enjoy the view from my balcony before leaving.
I then walked over to Epcot. I decided to stop at Le Cellier and see if I could get in for lunch. I had called earlier in the week to get a PS, but they told me they didn't have space for me. I was able to get a PS. I had just enough time to run over to get a fast pass for Soarin' before lunch. On my way in the building, a very nice guy gave me a fast pass for Soarin' that he wasn't going to use. I grabbed another so that I could go on Soarin' twice after lunch.
I then headed back to Le Cellier for my PS. I was seated immediately, and got my typical Le Cellier meal. I started off with cheddar cheese soup, which was as delcious as ever--especially when I dunk my breadsticks in it. I got the petite filet mignon for my entree. The meat was very tender, and the mashed potatoes were outstanding. I wasn't really hungry for dessert, but I ordered a chocolate moose anyways. I only ate about half of it, but it was very yummy.
After lunch, I went to use my Soarin' fast passes, and then headed over to ride Test Track. I whized through the single rides line, and was sitting in a car in about five minutes.
I then walked over to Norway to ride on the Maelstrom. I really enjoy that ride, but I wish it was longer. I also wish that they didn't strand you when you get off the ship when there is a movie going on.
I didn't really have time to go on any more attractions, so I started to take a leisurely stroll back to the Boardwalk. There were guys flying kites from jet skis on the water, so I enjoyed watching them. I stopped and grabbed an ice cream at the American Adventure while I walked.
I met up with Kaycee at the Boardwalk so we could say goodbye. I had Kaycee take a picture of me standing in front of Jellyrolls since I was wearing my brand new Jellyrolls t-shirt that I had purchased the night before.
After saying goodbye to Kaycee, I grabbed a diet coke, and went to meet my FL Tours towncar. We made it to the airport in record time, and I had about 90 minutes before my flight.
When I got on the plane, some folks walked by and mentioned that the recalled seeing me at Jellyrolls earlier in the week. I don't know what it is, but I always get recognized from my trips to Jellyrolls. I've had people stop me at parks and say they saw me at Jellyrolls the night before.
My flight landed in Boston, and I went to find the car that would be taking me home. As soon as I walked into my house, my cell phone rang. It was Kaycee calling me from my beloved bar so I could hear the sweet sound of Scotty singing "Beyond the Sea." At the end of the song, Kaycee, told Scotty to say hi to me, so I heard Scotty say "Hi, Karen" from the stage. I couldn't hear what he said, but Ray cracked a joke that made everyone laugh. Later in the evening, Scotty told Kaycee to call me back again, and then she called me back a third time. I wonder if I have to send Jellyrolls a check for the cover charge for that night now.
Oh well, I guess I won't worry about it. They'll be getting a lot more than that from me on my next trip.
