I'll be attending a conference at in Kansas City in a couple of weeks - we're staying at a hotel connected to the Crown Center. I've been given the mission to find a restaurant for about 10 of us dine at. The requirements? Be within walking distance of Crown Center and be priced around $15/entree. Any suggestions?

Here is a link of some stuff in or by Union Station which is connected to Crown Center by a skywalk. Not sure how far Jack Stack is away from Crown Center.

Fiorella's Jack Stack BBQ is an upscale BBQ joint. Haven't been to this location but its good. Probably top five in KC BBQ.

Everything else on this link are pricey steakhouses.

Up the road is the Power and Light District - think bars, bbq, an AMC theater (this is where AMC is headquartered and its their signature movie house), and lots of food options but you can't walk from crown center. It's about 2-3 miles north of crown center. You would have to taxi it there.

If you have any other questions just ask.

Here is a link to a pretty decent Italian place right in Crown Center. It has been a few years since I have been there but I used to work across the street and it was one of our fav places.

I miss KC - have a great time!

There are some good restaurants inside Crown Center itself.

One that should be able to fit all ten of you is Fritz. It's a diner type that delivers your food by train. The food is on par with a Steak and Shake- so not stellar cuisine. But the atmosphere is nice and the train is a hoot.

Thank you so much for all your suggestions... it's hard looking at a random list of restaurants - like hearing from the locals as where they'd go! I'm off to make some phone calls!

I haven't lived in KC for six years, so things may have changed. If you go into the Crown Center shops area, there are several restaurants that should meet your requirements. The actual hotel restaurants will be above your price requirement.

Don't overlook Street Car Named Desire. They have great service and good burgers. Also space for a big party and won't rush you to leave.
