I am flying to Kansas City in June for a wedding. I thought someone had told me that they don't have car rental booths in the airport there? How do you get the car? Taxi to the place or shuttle? Thanks in advance for any help.

There is a shuttle to the car rental areas. You do not need to taxi. You can pick up your bags, call for the shuttle, and they will pick you up outside.

Okay but does this mean that there are none that are in the airport? How far are we going on these shuttles? Are there certain ones we should look at that are closer? Thanks!

There are car rental locations at the airport they are just not in the terminals. I know that National/alamo, Hertz and Avis are at the airport. Not sure what other brands may be located there.

The car rental companies are only a few miles away from the terminal and are all close enough to each other that you should choose the rental car company you have the best relationship/dealings with.
Kansas City airport is very easy and 35 steps out of the gate are the concourse exits and entrances.
I believe you go to a (well marked) bank of phones and call the rental company you've chosen and tell them to come get you. I would recommend doing that as soon as you get off the plane, then usually next to the gate you exited will be the luggage pickups where you can retrieve you bags while waiting for the shuttle.
Hope this helps!

Agree with Valerie. KC's airport is ridiculously easy to get out of.

Each terminal is shaped like a donut with a bite out of it, and there is a circle drive where the shuttle busses come and pick you up. It might be 5 minutes or so to your rental car, but it's easy and the shuttles are of course free. Best of all, you are already out of the airport when you have to start navigating for yourself.

Have a great visit!
