So....I was one of the many that was banking on MSEP still being at the MK next summer. (Why would they go through so much trouble shipping it for a few months?)

But after Kevin mentioned that in his ABD trip that it was definitely going back to CA after August, I had to change my plans.

So....because of vacation time and limited funding, we are driving from VA (11 hours) tomorrow am, going to the MK all day Saturday. Praying it does not rain during the MSEP, and driving back on Sunday.

We have one day tickets left from last summer, so really we are only paying for food, hotel and gas.

My wife and I have seen it many times (Elliot and Pete's Dragon are my favorite!), but my daughter has only seen it once and my son has never seen it....so tomorrow we are off (and the kids have no idea!)

Going to be real fast (just booked Pop last night) but I am really looking forward to the trip!!!

Enjoy. Sounds like a blast. We do weekends all the time, but we are only 8 hours away.

Wow - long trip for one day. Going anywhere else wouldn't be worth it - but WDW sure is. Have a great time!

I wish I was within a days drive. The darn air fare is what stands between me and all the seasonal events. I was fortunate to make an special short notice trip a few weeks back that allowed me to see MSEP and the Summer Nightastic fireworks. It sounds like both will be gone when I get back there with my family next month:sad2:. IMO, they are well worth the Kamikazie Trip :thumbsup2. Here's wishing you great weather!

Have a great time! I also love the fact that Pete and his dragon are in the parade. :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the well wishes. Gonna hopefully be on the road by 5:30 and get in for dinner at Beaches & Cream! Gotta get the trip started with a No Way Jose!

If anybody is interested, I will be tweeting all day from the park. Twitter name is briansennett.

Quick update....we had a Fantastic Time!

We drove down Friday. Got in around 5:30. I dropped my wife and kids off at the Beach Club so they could go put our names in at Beaches & Cream. I went to Pop and check us in. By the time I got back to Beaches & Cream, our table was ready. Only a 30 min wait! Later than night, we just went to the pool and got to bed early.

Saturday morning we were at the MK at 8:10 for rope drop. Following the UG Touring Plans, we were able to get in Space, Buzz, Peter Pan, Small World, Haunted Mansion, Splash, Pirates, Jungle Cruise, and BTMRR. We did FP for BTMRR (rode Pirates and JC while we waited." The only wait longer than 5 mins was Splash.

Lunch at Pecos Bills, a little shopping for the kids, and back to the resort to cool off at the pool. Heat indexes were at 110!

Dinner at The Plaza, a few minor attractions, a Dole Whip and then on to Main Street for MESP and the Nightastic Fireworks.

MSEP was a great as I remember Fireworks were so-so for me. I rank them third behind Wishes and Fantasy in the Sky.

It was our fist stay at Pop (and a value for that matter) and we loved it. We were in the 80's and really enjoyed the rooms and resort.

The trip home was really long on Sunday, but all in all....definitely worth the drive. 24 hours of driving and almost 1600 miles in 3 days, but would do it again in a heart beat!

Thanks for sharing the report from your very quicky trip.
You must be exhausted!

Glad you liked Pop. I think that is a really fun place to stay.

Thanks for sharing your trip. You know as your children grow up this will be one of those trips that becomes a story. It will begin with Remember when Mom and Dad were so crazy that they piled us into the car and we drove to WDW just to see a parade... The memories are priceless.

It's a great day to be alive,
Carol

Call Disney and ask what parade is running in September and they will tell you SpectroMagic.

If I'm wrong...I'll be the first to say so......but everything we're hearing says it's going again.

I really felt it would still be there next summer (our next "planned" trip), but after what the CM told him on the ABD trip, I really did not want to gamble. So...if it is back next year...GREAT...I get to see it again :) If not...I at least got to see it one more time, and had a great time doing it!

I have to admire two days in the car for one day at Disney.

That's devotion!

Have a great time!!!

I saw them three times from the Poly Beach. I think they might actually be better viewed from a distance because they are spread out. Either way, you can't beat fireworks in WDW.

I'm glad the weather cooperated and you had a great time.

My little sister is a dancer in The parade...they were told to expect it to be at the Magic Kingdom for an undisclosed extended period of time.....The fireworks on the otherhand are going away on aug 15th

Not according to anyone you call at Disney.

All schedules...list Spectro Magic as being the parade in September.

Now...that's not to say that you cant get multiple answers....but all of the answers have been the same.

MSEP is going away and SM is coming back.

If this information is inaccurate, then all of the folks answering Disney's phones have been given erroneous information.

It's my understanding that it's headed back to DL...but to the MK and not California Adventure.
