I'm thinking about trying Kali River Rapids this trip. Is it a guarantee you get soaked about every time you ride? Thanks

It depends. Last time my back was facing the drop so I got pretty wet (despite wearing a poncho, which defeats the purpose if the hood wont stay up lol). But the rest of the raft got wet, but not soaked. However no one was using the elephants on the bridge to wet people on our raft, so I am guessing if that's not the case, then you might still get pretty wet.

I appreciate the advice! I'm at flights of wonder right now and I'm contemplating going on it after this. We're planning on going back to the hotel before we go to MK later this afternoon, so this might be the time to try it!

Last trip my teens rode twice--the second time because they came off the first time looking like they hadn't even been on it! Second time they got soaked, which is exactly what they wanted :)

It's not a guarantee you will, but I've found there's no real science to avoid it either. Every time I've ridden before last June I barely got a sprinkle...last June I was SOAKED to the core. I even sat on a rock in the sun near Everest to try to dry off. I looked like I had literally jumped in a pool! Lucky me, my shirt also bled and stained my undergarments haha a nice souvenir surprise! If you're going back to the hotel, definitely try it because at least you can get changed!

Also, do NOT bring anything you don't want getting wet on with you, store them in the nearby lockers that I believe are free. If my bag would've been soaked with me I would've been miserable!

And in a fun twist of events, my boyfriend, just inches from me, was almost completely dry. In fact I was the only soaked one in the raft, but it was fun!

Oddly, the backpack was the only thing on me that didn't get wet, thanks to the poncho. I did take out my valuables though, like cellphones and cameras and put those in the locker with my handbag. The backpack was too big for the locker, which was actually disappointing because alot of people carry bags that size. It wasn't a big backpack.

Nope. A few years ago, on a really quiet September day, my wife and I rode it five times straight, because it was really hot that day and I wanted to get soaked. After that fifth time, we had barely gotten a drop on us. She had no interest in riding it again (she was feeling a little seasick or something), so I rode it alone another six times in a row. Outside of my feet, I was hardly damp. So disappointing! The last time I went down backwards, so I thought I'd finally get soaked, but the splash was minimal due to a 1/2 empty raft.

I tend to carry a belt bag (aka fanny pack hahaha) and I didn't want it to smell like mildew from that center thing (it had on previous trips, thankfully I got the smell out) so I was able to squeeze mine and my boyfriend's drawstring-type backpack into the locker. Luckily he didn't have much and mine folds up pretty well but I can definitely see the issue for more structured bags/backpacks! I know my boyfriend so wished he had a waterproof camera to capture my reaction at the deluge haha I felt like a little bug sunning myself on an empty rock. I even had someone ask what happened to me! My poor undergarments never returned to their original color and stayed a nice bright blue :sad2::ssst:

We went on for the first time last October and barely got wet from the ride. We got wetter from the rain than the ride. But, I have seen people coming off completely drenched.

Some member of my family always gets completely soaked. I bring an entire change of clothes for each of us. We tried the ponchos, but they are just too hot. I'd rather get wet than sweaty.

No.

Well, on second thought...if you happen to ride it in the pouring rain, then you'll get pretty wet.

Now the raft ride at Islands of Adventure is a different matter. If you want everyone to get wet, THAT is your ride.

My sister, our friend and I went on it in September. Our friends was completely dry, I had a few sprinkles, and my sister looked like she'd showered with her clothes on...so it all depends.

I believe there are two different sized lockers. The three of us used only one and were able to fit a tote bag and two backpacks in it without really having to squish anything.

You have to go in assuming you'll be soaked. I've seen more seasoned travelers donning a poncho on the ride .. maybe not perfect, but if properly tucked around your legs, it surely goes a long way to improving the next several hours of your day.

It's definitely not a guarantee. Its not even a guarantee that you'll actually get wet! Couple years ago DH and I rode it 3 times, back to back to back, I only got drenched once the other times I was pretty much dry. I think it all depends on which way the raft turns when you hit the main plunge!

Haven't been on it in many years. I vaguely remember there being a center area on the raft that you could store things in? Is that still true? Are you allowed to store shoes in there or do they make you have something on your feet? Are the lockers free?
