Kali River Rapids

My whole family felt it was way to short (as others have commented). But...we felt the theming in the line was very well done. We went on it 3 times on our trip in August, and with the intense heat we were really looking forward to getting drenched. Problem was, each time none of us really got wet - it was always everyone else on the ride that seemed to get wet and not us!

While I like Kali, and DH really likes Kali, I feel Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Rafts are so much more fun. Oh well that "Dark Side" does seem to call me now and again.

I'm not a big fan. I don't like walking around soaked and I don't feel like carrying extra clothes into the park.

One word.....
CHAFING!
Make it the last ride of the day if you don't feel like carrying a change of clothes (or a full-body plastic sack) around the park all day.
I like it well enough, but I think it'll be a skip for me this trip. Don't like being wet in December, even if the weather is milder than back home.

We were just there beg. of Sept early in the a.m. and we were lucky enough to ride it 4 times. Only 1 time did we have to get off and walk up and around to go on it again 3 times in a row. I have 2 great pictures of my DH and DS getting soaked with the water. It was a lot of fun!! :)

Hot or not I don't care for the ride. The ride itself is great my family and I are not ones for walking around soggy for a few hours afterwards.

We will be there in January for the first time ever, and last as we are from Australia. Can't go all that way without doing it, but I don't want to get our shoes soaked either, won't dry out for days. Will we have to try to resist our riding until just before leaving AK that day. But that won't solve the wet shoe problem. I know we could take our shoes off, but if we all ride, what do we do with the shoes then??

Unless you bring a second set of shoes with you (like flip flops or water shoes), you won't be able to take your other shoes off. Shoes are required on the ride. There is a compartment in the middle of the car into which you can place things like your backpack. The compartment isn't waterproof, but keeps most of the water out. There's also a foot rail. If you keep your feet up on the rail, your shoes won't get as wet.

We actually did this ride on our Blizzard Beach day instead of our Animal Kingdom day. After finishing at Blizzard Beach (and still in our bathing suits, beach shirts, and water shoes), we stopped at DAK on the way back to the hotel. Every bus leaving Blizzard Beach stops at DAK, so it wasn't a long wait to get there. We spent enough time to ride E:E again and to ride Kali, then went back to the hotel to shower and change for EMH at Magic Kingdom. (Hopper passes are a good thing!)

We both think it's way too short to waste dry clothes on, but we go on it every so many years, just to try it again.

Bobbi :)
