Do you really get that wet on Kali River Rapids ? Should we wear ponchos so we will not be soaking wet the rest of the day ? Is it worth it ?

you can and likely will get soaked...I think its an okay ride..but its much much much too short IMO

Yes, yes, yes. Did I say you will get wet??? Even with ponchos, we still got wet from the air flapping parts of our ponchos up or our legs which weren't covered, and in jeans that was miserable... There's really only one drop, but it is a doozy. Definitely have ponchos...

I agree that it is very short. Sometimes I've gotten just get a little wet and other times I've gotten soaked!! Best to plan on being soaked!

Oh Yeah! you can DEFINATELY get wet on Khali! I've been on there several times and got absolutely drowned but every once in a while the River God is smiling on me and I hardly get wet at all! :rotfl2: it's pretty much a hit or miss. Good luck to you! YoHo pirate: pirate:

Fo rme it is the luck of the draw! sometimes i have gotten soaked and Dh stays completely DRY! or vise-versa and THEN there are times we are both dry or both soaked! CRAZY! but we love it anyway!!

ditto what others have already said, sometimes you get pretty soaked other times you might just get a little splash. it really depends on where you end up turning. plan on getting soaked and have your poncho on *before* you get into the 'boat' if you don't want to be wet.

it's a nice ride. have fun! :thumbsup2

I have rode it and only got a few drops on my legs. I have also rode it and got absolutely drenched. Usually most people get pretty wet. If you are going in colder weather I would wear the poncho or not ride it at all.

I remember reading somewhere the seats were small, how would someone 'larger' fit onto this ride? is it a tight fit? thanks!

Becoming wet in cold weather probably isn't a grat idea--but outside of that, the only "fun" part of the ride is anticipating getting--and then getting--wet!!!
And as others have said, it's much too short a ride. Often when we get off we hear first timers saying- "That's it"???

I wouldn't say you get wet... so much as soaked to the skin!

My DH and I rode it three times in a row on his first trip in 03 and each time we had the "wrong" seats... we looked like we'd been in the bath with our clothes on!

My tip? If the weather is warm enough wear sandals and take spare clothes, I mean shorts tshirts AND underwear! Throw a flannel or hand towel in your bag too... leave it in a locker and then when you're through riding just go and get changed :)

It's not the best rapids ride, personally I like the one at Islands of adventure  better... but Kali is fun :)

Usually it's my DH that gets soaked to the skin but this year it was my turn. I ended up so wet I had to go in the bathroom and ring the water out. I didn't dry out completely all day.

Yes the seats are small however a large person can fit into one as long as a smaller person sits next to them. The seats are setup in pairs and two people will share a lap belt. So if you are large and the person next to you is also large, the lap belt will not fit. Just make sure you sit near a small person or tell the CM that boards you that you will need to sit by yourself.

oh yea you can get very wet. last trip we went on numerous times and it is really hit or miss as to getting really wet, i figured that it can be weight driven, what i mean is that if there is all of the big people on one side when you get to the top of the drop that the weight will pull that side down first and you will go directly under the waterfall. this wasnt true. somehow when we went on all of the men were on one side on the women on the other. my wife remarked how you all are going to get wet because all of you guys are on the same side. they thought it was funny. well needless to say when the drop started the raft stopped spinning and their side went down first and they all got drenched. we got wet but not as much as they did. so we decided to test the weight theory a few more times and the results were conclusive. You Get WET!!!!

If you are the lucky souls going down the rapids backwards  you will get soaked! But that's the fun part of it to me anyway! Don't forget about the bridge ppl are standing on! I don't want to spoil it for ya, but you were warned! *where is the devil laughing smiley when you need it*

We are planning on going to Bomas after our day AK. I wonder if we will be able to enjoy our meal if we are still damp by then? Either way I want to try Kali Rapids, never did. Sounds like so much fun!! I bought some ponchos for all of us and some cheap flip flops.

You can have every fiber on you soaked (including shoes, if you don't remove them), or you can just get a little wet.

If it is cold out, being wet stinks - we ride just before leaving the park on cool days. If it is hot (and the shoes stayed dry), then it is nice to be all wet! You look like hell, but stay nice and cool. :)

Some people say that the heavier side gets the splash...I have not found that to be the case.

I don't think the seats are small at all.

I am a small person and I had a really, really large person next to me. My DDs sat next to eachother and my DH and DS were together. Now at first I was bummed because I was really squished. But then, I thought, "Good, he will shield me from the water!! Yippeee!" I like to see the cup as half-full. Well, let just say, it didn't work out the way I had planned. I was squished. I was soaked. I was the source of my family's humor for the day!

You may get REALLY wet. I look like I has jumped in the river. Luckily, I had flip-flops on. I think I would have been bummed if I had had socks and running shoes on... It was a hot day so I dried in a few hours!

It is important to note that there is a center console-type of thing to store your backpacks, cameras, etc. They don't let you take your shoes off though.

Have fun!

This is true. When my hubby and I sat together, I had a scary moment when I thought the seatbelt would not fit around us.(We are not small). It fit...but just barely! So, yes, either sit with someone smaller, or get a seat by yourself.
