We are taking our first trip to WDW in February and was wondering how wet do you get when riding Kali River Rapids. Is this something I should skip if the temperature is cool?

Thanks!

How wet you get depends on where you are sitting, and there's no way of knowing where the drier seats will be. You may get just a little wet, or you may get bone drenching wet by a cascade of water coming over your head. I usually get the cascade of water when I go on it.

If you want to go on it, and it's too cool, plan it as the last thing you do before leaving the park for the day (if it's that cold, there probably won't be a line). Or, you could wear a poncho, or bring an extra set of clothes.

We wear ponchos and you still get pretty wet but we did it in February, it was a blast. Also, I am a backpack in the park kind of person. I bring a large black garbage bag from home in my backpack for this ride. (Insert bag, tie closed) There is only a spot for small stuff and the bag will be drenched as water accumulates on the floor. I have also been with people who take their shows off to keep them dry, I just suggest feet up on the bar.

Enjoy, it is super fun!

The warning sign at Kali River Rapids says "You WILL get wet...You may get SOAKED!" I think that is a fairly accurate assessment. My sons and I rode Kali last Tuesday, and got fairly wet on our first ride. Since there was no line, the CM asked if we wanted to stay on and ride again, and of course my sons said "Yes!" This time we got thoroughly soaked. Since it was a cool, cloudy day, it took us awhile to dry out, but it was still fun. :earsboy:

I personally recommend bringing along some sandals or flip-flops to change into before the ride. Even if you put your feet up on the bar, your feet can still get hit with a wave of water, and walking around in wet socks and tennis shoes for several hours is not fun. I know that we were glad that we changed shoes beforehand... :earsboy:

When we rode, we all had ponchos on and still got soaked to the bone:D . It was a fun ride, but thankful that it wasn't a cold day. I am glad we had the experience, but it isn't one of those rides that we HAVE to go on each time we visit.:p

Bring dry socks ;) Actually it was raining all day when we went last year...and we were in ponchos, but my jeans (and undewear) got so wet...we had to go back to change! My DS and I had a 'wave' come over our heads! It is a fun ride, but you might get really wet :boat:

When the sign says "You WILL get wet...You MAY get soaked!", what it really means is "You WILL get so completely drenched that four hours from now you will still be able to wring a cup of water out of your underwear!"

Just so you know.

we all get totally and completely soaked!!!! I've read where some have said they only get a little wet but that has never been our experience over the years. Its fun if the weather is not too cool but i would say that "EVERYONE GETS SOAKED!!!!!!!"!!!! Do it at the very end of the day and bring a towel!!!

Enjoy!!!!

Well, I'm glad I asked this question. We will do this ride at the end of the day and will bring along a change of shoes (and maybe clothes).:D

This is our families absolute favourite ride at AK we love it - it is soooooooo worth getting really soaked for - enjoy it!

Thank goodness I read about KRP on these boards before my last trip! I brought a change of clothes for all my family members and kept the backpack in the locker. After the ride, we were so completely soaked, DH was thanking me up and down for having the foresight to bring dry clothes. The poster who said you'll be wringing water from your underwear form hours later wasn't kidding! I put the wet clothes in a plastic bag, put the bag in the backpack, put it in the locker, and we enjoyed the rest of the day.

Just remember to take out those clothes as soon as you get back to your hotel or else face mildewy clothes the next day!

My DW, DS and myself went on it with another couple and their two daughters. My family got wet down the back. The woman sitting across from me got SOAKED!! In a white t-shirt no less!! I was pretty embarrassed for her to tell the truth. The two little girls had ponchos on and seemed to make it out pretty dry.

It was a blast!!

That made me laugh so hard I almost wet my pants and I'm not even ON Kali right now!!! But this is SO true!!

To those who have been to DCA in California, how does it compare to Grizzly??? I missed Kali on my last trip, and will be going to DL/DCA in 05, so I am just curious.

I know it is my karma or something, but I ALWAYS will get drenched. No matter where I am, I guarantee the raft will suddenly turn to put me right where the entire river of water sprays into the raft or right under the waterfall. I will get soaked. I have never been on any raft rides in any park where I have not gotten drenched to my undies. If I choose to ride those, I will always bring a change of clothes.

If you don't like getting soaked, you will get soaked!!!!!

And it doesn't really matter where you sit, because the raft sits as it turns. So you have a good chance of getting wet wherevet you sit.

And you do get very wet.

I think that at DCA there are a few places where the entire raft will get wet. My brother who lives in CA and is a DL expert says that in warmer weather much more water spurts at the raft than when we were there in Feb.

KRR is not as wet or wild a ride as Popeye's Bilge Rafts at Universal. Now there's a raft ride where the entire raft will get soaked. ( A favorite when the weather is warm.)

If you ride with me on Kali you will stay dry--I always seem to be in the two seats that get soaked by the wave of water.

And remember those nasty bridge sprayers. They have a knack of getting the "dry" people wet near the end of the ride.
