Thursday Morning the alarm on my phone went off at 6am. Annette and I got up and while she was feeding Kade, I packed up things we would need for our first day in the parks. Jackson woke up and we dressed the boys in the cute Animal Kingdom outfits that they got from the Big Give. We were ready for breakfast in the Gingerbread house by the time they opened at 8am. Annette, Jackson and I had a great breakfast and Kade enjoyed the environment of a lot of kids and new noises. When we had finished breakfast we headed over to the theater to see what Disney Characters came for a visit. We made it in front of the theater and ran into Belle, Goofy and Pluto. Jackson was excited to see Belle because he wanted to tell her that she is one of Nannies favorite characters. We got pictures taken with all three of them and Pluto even noticed that Jackson had pluto on his shirt, Pluto jumped around and gave Jackson a HUGE hug. After seeing the three amigo's we went into the theater to see Mickey and Minnie.
About the time that we got our turn, Nannie, Pawpaw, Grandma and Grandpa arrived in the theater as well (they were staying in a house less than 1 mile from GKTW). We ALL got some one on one time with Mickey and Minnie and had several pictures taken with them. Minnie really enjoyed Annette's shirt and her bag.
After meeting with the characters and having pictures taken, we piled into our van and made our way to Animal Kingdom. Driving to the park, we got our first glimpse of the WELCOME TO DISNEY WORLD sign, and Jackson went crazy with excitement when we pointed it out. We got to the booth to pay for parking and the attendant saw our GKTW button and waved us through. I asked about handicap parking and he said "just follow the blue paint". Sure enough the far right lane and a blue line in it and that lead us straight to a nice handicap parking lot well within walking distance of the main gates. The lines for the gates were not too long and we made our way to the stroller rental for Jackson. The grandparents were a bit delayed because they had an issue with their tickets and had to have that fixed before they could get into the park so we headed back to the Safari ride. At the entrance to the safari ride Annette and I nervously went up to a Cast member and asked about the GKTW button and where we should go. Once they saw the button, they immediately directed us to the fast pass line and said just walk up the middle of the line and look for the guy standing by the handicap sign, he will take you where you need to go. So, we did, and we were next in line for the Handicap truck, we were really happy since Kade could stay in his wheelchair for this ride. We got on the truck and away we went. The driver we had was really funny and really catered to Jackson. We were a bit worried about how bumpy the ride would be since Kade has no neck muscle control to keep his head from flopping around, but it wasn't that bad. Actually, Kade LOVED the ride and was really vocal and looking around at things. We saw a lot of animals, and even got to see a baby elephant. We got to the Lion area and saw the male lion walking around and the drive made a comment about how they rarely get to see that, the we found out why he was walking around, right as we drove by he pee'd all over the place and Jackson yelled out "LOOK HE IS TAKING A PEE". The driver took it in stride and said something like "yep robots don't pee" make a joke about how people always think that the animals are robots.
After the safari ride we found that the grandparents were making their way over to the Nemo show, so we started walking that way too. Before we got too far, though we ran into Terk and the cast member let us jump line and get her autograph. We walked about 50 feet and saw Flick from Bugs Life, again the cast member saw us and BOOM next in line. We finally got over to the Nemo show and got right in. The show is really cute and had a lot of colors. Kade was tired and ended up taking a 20 minute nap during the show. After the show we went and had lunch at the BBQ place just outside of Dino land. While we were in line for food, I saw a sign for meeting Pooh and Tigger. After we finished lunch we went to meet Tigger and Pooh, there was no line, so we got to spend as much time with them as we wanted. Tigger did great playing with the boys and posing for pics. When we were done getting photos taken with Tigger one of the Cast members came up to me and asked if we would like to have Eore's autograph. We said we would like it, but Eore was in his "stable" taking a break. The cast member offered to take our autograph books go get his signature and meet us at the top of the hill. After about a 10 minute wait the Cast member showed up with two signed pages that were PERSONALIZED to the boys with their names. PIXIE DUST!!! We then quickly went over to see It's tough to be a Bug. Jackson liked this show until the stink bug showed up and gassed everyone. He started screaming and crying, a sign of a very TIRED Jackson.
We then headed over to Camp Minnie Mickey to see if we could get into the Lion King show. We got over there a bit too late for the show so we decided to just go for character autographs. Man we hit the jackpot too! We got Chip n Dale, Goofy, Mickey, Minnie, and Thumper all in a span of about 10 minutes. Again the cast members were AWESOME at discreetly getting us to the front of the line and getting us in to see the characters as quickly as possible. After we got all these autographs we knew it was about time to head back to GKTW for dinner and Christmas. But on the way out we saw Lilo and Stitch. Annette went with the boys to get pictures and autographs and the next thing she knew she had started a fight between Lilo and Stich. Lilo apparently used too much room for her autograph and Stich was making a stink about it. It was really funny.
We made it back to GKTW in time for some swimming in the pool before it was time for dinner. So Annette, the boys and I got to enjoy the nice pool for about an hour or so before the grandparents showed up for Christmas Dinner. GKTW allows guests of people staying to have one meal and one icecream snack, so we picked Christmas Dinner for them to enjoy with us. It was during Christmas dinner that we met fellow Disboarder, Mom2mitokids and her family. After dinner we went over and got to visit with the big guy, Santa. After our visit the boys got gifts from the elfs, Jackson got a nerf flag football set and Kade got a light brite. After getting their gifts we went over and helped Kade make his star. After making his star the boys got their pillows too. You can't goto the castle with our riding the carousel a few times too. Jackson made a new girlfriend with one of the college volunteers and she ended up riding the carousel with him a few times. We talked the boys into having icecream and then heading to bed.
I have WAY more pictures
here than I can show here. Please feel free to go look at them.
Up next Day 3 - Magic Kingdom and the croup.
