I am going to Disney world from August 13-21 for a Disney world trip with my 2 grown children. I was not planning on renting a car unless needed. A couple of questions. First, is the shuttle service provided by the JW Marriott good enough to use for transportation instead of renting a car? Second, has anyone stayed at this hotel? I know it is a newer hotel and have stayed on property every trip to Disney world until now so any thoughts on the hotel as a whole? Am I better off at an onsite hotel. I got a decent rate here (about $225 per night) so a comparably priced onsite property is probably the Pop or Art of Animation I would think. Thanks for your input and thoughts!!

I looked into this hotel, partly because I have a bunch of Bonvoy points and it is a new Marriott property. I have not stayed there yet, and we didn't end up booking. It looks nice, especially since it is so new, but it looked like maybe the pool area is a bit small from the photos and I just love the location at the Swan and Dolphin. If you really want a newer hotel, perhaps the Swan Reserve will be open for your trip? I love the Epcot resort area, and I think the rate would probably be in the same range for Swan/Dolphin, and then you can walk to Epcot and Hollywood Studios and grab a bus to MK and Animal Kingdom. I am a huge fan of those hotels. We have also stayed at the Yacht Club, which is lovely, but I am happy at the Swan or Dolphin any day, especially at the lower rate.

Thanks for the idea! I did not look at the swan reserve. I take it that this is a new area of the hotel? I will check the rates and see how it compares.

I believe the Swan Reserve is near the Swan, so it has the same convenience in terms of location as the Swan and Dolphin.

Okay. I switched to the Swan. I tried to book the reserve but they are not taking reservations until September 1 even though they are scheduled to open on August 12. I grabbed the Swan for now and will change to the reserve if they open the reservations. Thanks for the input.
