We got home last night from a great week at the Fort. We had site 1741. It was a great corner site, easy to back into. We seen less than a handful of empty sites while looping. We had some bad weather last Tuesday night, other than that the weather was good besides hot. Seen a few broken awnings. There were several tent campers. As hot as it was, my hats off to those who tent camp.:worship: We had heavy rains driving home yesterday. It took us 4 hours to get from the Fort to the north of Jacksonville on I-95. My wife counted 7 wrecks, one was a truck with a camper and another was a RV pulling a small car. I hope those folks are all right.
The parks were a little crowded but not too bad. I was surprised at people will not get off the cell phone while on a ride or watching a show. The other was people walking thought the parks texting and not watching where they were going.
The dog park was great. The no pets past this point signs were moved to just past the 300 loop and just before the 1600 -1900 pet loops. I thought before you could not take pets out of the loops.

glad you made it home safely. since they added the dog park they now allow people to walk from their loops to the dog park.

Last time we were at WDW we commented on the amount of people talking in the shows on their cell phones, one lady sitting by up in the Muffet show was giving a blow by blow of what was going on in her loud " whisper " voice...crazy,

Yea, I figured as we got closer to July 4th, we would start seeing more and more crowds at the Fort. Probably won't be a totally slammed summer (compared to the last few years), but this is getting into busy time.

When I went over on 6/14 to ride my bike, all the loops had quite a few empty spaces; like 7-10 per loop. Perhaps people are now coming for Sunday thru Saturday trips unlike past years?? In the not too distant past, the Fort sat empty during the week & then filled up on Friday for the weekenders. I guess people are now starting to make the most of their trips due to the cost of fuel.

Mr/Mrs. Medic....did you have anything on your site to identify you as "one of us"? I look for those things on my bike treks...and saw not ONE disboard identifier in the whole campground! We must start doing a better job!!

A good thing to do in these instances (if they are really annoying like this lady sounds like she was), is to take out your cell phone, and pretend like you're calling someone or taking a call.

Make sure you talk loud enough for the person to hear you, and say something like "Yea, we're here at this show, but we can barely hear anything cause someone keeps on talking on their cell phone, call you later".

I've done it a few times (although it's much better just to ask them to be quiet ;) ), it's hilarious, you can get quite a laugh out of the crowd around you...heh.

I had to take a cell phone call when I was at WDW and I kindly left the line from my family and sat on a rock while they rode. No way would I ruin it for others (even if it was Small World) Especially since they got stuck on it for 5 minutes. I think that they should stop the rides just like they do for people who stand up! We were at the fort from 6/6-6/13 in a tent and yes it was killer hot during the day but very cool at night, we have a ceiling fan rigged in our tent and one night (Tuesday after the storms) I was actually cold. We were in 2000 loop and there was very few (some nights no) empty sites. :moped:

That's CRAZY. We had a wreck up here a year ago where 5 girls who had just graduated from HS were killed in a car accident because the driver was texting! Absolutely CRAZY.

I'm glad to hear the fort was crowded! It's a pain when you're trying to get reservations, but I don't want to see people give up their trips!

Look out for her! She will stop and annoy people who identify themselves.

I gotta try that! :rotfl:

Glad you had a good trip Medic. We were there from the 8-12. That storm on Tuesday was intense. We were stuck in our popup. The kids were scared we were going to blow away. I personally love a good thunderstorm. I just hate to see the damage afterwards.

I can blame this one on the wife. I put my green Mickey head in the truck window when we got there. She drove the truck later that day and did not put it back up. I'll do better in Sept.
