I do the book thing too! I also fix goodies bags full of cool road trip stuff for the kids and I do a weekly run by the dollar store for other disney stuff I can bring along for when my kids get the gimmies.
I read the boards, read the books(passporter and Birnbaum's mostly), go to allears.net, look at the WDW website to see if there are any discounts coming out, watch my vacation planning DVD OVER and OVER!
Between visits I read as much as I can about Disney World and maintain a couple of perpetual planning spreadsheets. On one I have everything I haven't done or seen yet, in and out of the parks. It's a HUGE list because there is so much I want to do over again each and every visit (R'nRCoaster, TOT, Splash, BTMR, EE) but I try to do at least one new thing each time. For my next trip I want to see the electrical pageant from the Polynesian resort beach and, if I plan it right, the MNSSHP fireworks from there, too! I also keep a spreadsheet of hidden gems. Both these lists help keep me on track while on the discussion boards and I'm constantly updating them. And of course, there's the Google Virtual Earth Walt Disney World. What a wonderful thing for Disney Imagineering to do for us Mouse-aholics!
LOL... When I saw this thread I had to respond. My DH just asked if I have done anything besides read about and talk about Disney since we booked two weeks ago. I have to say I have learned the most from these boards!
Yep just read the forums, go to allearsnet, mouseavers and the disney website. Go to the Disney store to see what's on sale and the Dollar Tree too! It does help pass the time!
I make lists. When I think my list is finished I will start a book and then I think my list needs something else. Then I make a new list compare it to the old and then those don't seem perfect and the cycle continues as I make list after list. My husband took the papers with the adr and our plans and told me I can't have them until we are on the plane. He thinks maybe now I will get past page 12 in my book.
