Just won it on eBay... what do you think? OK... here it comes......

Vote how you think I should have proceeded - multiple votes are OK...

  • Buy strictly "L" professional lenses... nothing else mattes!

  • I am "on track" in a reasonable evolutionary manner...

  • I should mix it up - use an "L", a standard EF, and 3rd party lenses when appropriate

  • I should stick with just PRIME lenses

  • I should have sold the whole KIT and gone back to a point and shoot

  • 4 simple words... buy disposable film cameras!

Results are only viewable after voting.
I agree.... Nice castle shot!

I wonder what my neighbors and HOA would think if I added lavendar flood lights to my home like Disney did here?

I think they''ll think that you love Lavender a lot :)
Well.... i'll have to rig a synchonized pair of rotating rainbow colored wheels ahead of the flood lights - it will shed syncronized random colors! Plus I'll cut in a couple of LCD projectors which will play seemingly random but pre-programmed MPEG animations. That will keep the neighbors guessing!

So.... no one else has anything to contribute? We've only a couple who have or had a 28-135 IS here? OR... alternatly ... just a few with an OPINION or vote? Oh well....

captaincrash, according to my 'source at Canon' ;) try using superglue to avoid zoom creep... or any type of zooming function whatsoever.

Just saw the part about freezing the zooming funtion... LOL! :lmao: SO you're proposing I convert my zoom into a prime - and possibly correcting all it's optical flaws????? ... magically with super glue? DO you suppose this act would have improved the optical performance of that Nikon zoom with super glue in the UK? Hmmmm..... :rolleyes1

with the lens hood on, my DW's definitely creeps. point it straight down and the barrel will extend. over time it happens quicker.

oops, hit 'submit' too quick. i was disappointed in the new 24-105 L IS. i love my 24-70L and i was hoping the 24-105 was like the luxury version of the 28-135 so i could sell the 24-70. but the flaring issues, slower AF wide open, and some CA at the corners turned me way off this lens :( oh well i'm still happy with what i have.

FINALLY! Somebody who concur with my findings! I abhor the 24-105 f/4L IS. Mine doesn't have flare issue (well, it used to, but then replaced with the one without flare) but the CA and vignetting at 24 (on a FF body) is crazy! :furious:

I know... I'm a nut. :confused3

The new lense is in beautiful condition ...

... initially I opened the package when I was at my daughters' gymnastics class - and to my mild surprise my battery died after 5 shots ... three of the package as I opened it and after 2 shots with the new lens. I had forgotten that in the past few days I had shot several hundred images at an Anime/Cosplay Expo (my 1st time attending) and at my little girls' 1st competitive swim meet/ plus I shot a bunch of images of the local fireworks display that our city put on for the 4th. SO - I had no spare battery and was left without power last nite at the gymnastics thing. :confused3

My daughter was sick yesterday, and in the evening after gymastics I had no time - plus today was pretty busy - so maybe I'll get to shooting some with the new lense. However, initial inspection and handling suggest it is in truly pristine condition. No a mark or smudge on it - and it was very nicely packed.

SO maybe I'll have more to say after the weekend.

TTFN!

if it's not against the dis board law who'd you get if from? i am so chicken about ebay as i got badly taken one time and don't want that to happen again espcially with something $$$

btw thought i was the only one who tracked stuff moment by moment :teeth: which can be nerve racking as once a purchase was literally 2 hrs from my house then left the state only to cross back into my state late that night which made me ??????? the mysterious ways of DHL- :lmao:

Jann -

- I'll PM you the info plus other helpful commentary - and I am about to go shoot a bunch of photos at a BD party with the new lens plus probably dip into my KIT for the rest. Here are the first few pix of the package being opened - plus an early sample pix. I checked a few of the images - focus accuracy and basic function - all seems well... more later!

Yeah - I may be the only one to have ever posted pix of a new lens arrival - unpacking and all BEFORE posting actual images taken WITH the new lens! I kno... I'm a nut!
