..another parent surprises us with a gem. On our recent extended stay at WDW, we arrived at Epcot before the rope drop in hopes of riding Soarin' before the lines got too bad. As expected, folks were running like crazy fools toward the pavillion (as if they were handing out cash) with no interest in anything they passed along the way. We did not run, but instead briskly walked to The Land. From behind me, I heard a small voice say, "mommy, I don't want to run anymore." A pause, and then "mommy" says, "then you don't want to ride for two and a half hours then." About that moment the family of mommy, daddy, and three very young boys (about 2, 4, and 6) comes whizzing by and then, yes, the classic phrase that me and hubby will never, ever forget.......drum roll....."YOU'VE GOT TO LEARN TO DODGE AND WEAVE, BABY."

I swear, I just about lost it! Poor little boys! "Mommy," whom we lovingly referred to as "Snowflake" the remainder of trip because of her snowflake headband, was also seen at the Animal Kingdom the next day almost knocking folks over to get at the front of a newly opened ticket acceptor just before opening. She literally had the ticket in her hand held right in front of the ticket acceptor just waiting for the "go ahead." She and the little ones ran through (she never once looked back to see if the "oldest" two were behind her) and then poor dad lost them as he didn't know which way they went, right or left.

It was funny and sad at the same time. It's a shame that folks don't take time to appreciate all the special little details that Disney puts into the parks.

Yeah, those kids will need therapy when they're older :earseek:
However, I have to say it's a good motto for life in general :rotfl2:

:teeth: You have to admit, there's some logic to the sentiment! Too bad she lost them in the crowd, though! Isn't it Delswife who said "Three steps to the left, and back" to lose someone? This lady jsut did it backwards!

It's a shame that people can't enjoy the process.

things like this make me so thankful that we are fortunate enough to go as often as we do. We can actually slow down and just enjoy the atmosphere. If we miss something.. Oh well.. we know there will always be a next time and time after that and a time after that.

Maybe this one their one and only time they will ever be at WDW... and they were so totally clueless that the "rides" are not the only enjoyable parts of the park.

That's why I say, "just take your time" :)

It IS possible to dodge and weave on one circuit through the park, and take your time on the second day :earsboy:

Thanks for sharing, that's hilarious!!! Now I have a new motto to add to my "collection"......by Snowflake. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I think dodging and weaving is a better option than pushing and shoving. :rotfl:
I laugh at the dodgers and weavers and silently curse the pushers and shovers.
Tuesday morning I saw the waking Tinkerbell crazies. One Mom ran ahead of her 5yo Cinderella costumed daughter while screaming over her shoulder- "I'll save your spot, but HURRY- UP!" The poor thing didn't know where to go once the crowd overtook her, so crazy Mom had to come back to get her. I went in to watch Tink wake up. I can't believe people fight over doing this. It's cute, but I can't see it being a lifetime memory for the kids.

Oh a happier note, I talked to a manager before entering Epcot last Saturday morning. I asked why they weren't walking people over to Soarin' like they do at MGM for RNR and TOT. I was told that was a good idea and that morning at least, we walked in behind 10 Disney employees, a few in suits. It was very orderly and actually fun. No pushing and shoving at all. I don't know if they did it like that after that, but they should.

makes me glad my parents were never like that. It was my brother and I who always wanted to run as fast as possible.

We were the king and queen of "Gotta beat the tourists"!! :)

This is very sad, I wounder if they actually slowed down to enjoy their vacation. :confused3 The kids will probably never get to feel the magic of WDW because they were not given the time to soak it in

I have to admit I am one of those who "dodge and weave" people, or at least I was until I had my gastric bypass. For a woman who was 326 lbs my DH said I could really move, he couldn't keep up (he weighs 150 lbs). My youngest DS would say he saw "Disney with a blink of his eye". Since my bypass I have slowed down, not sure why, but now I take my time, for the most part, and really enjoy all there is to see. On my last trip my youngest DS made the comment several times, "Well I don't remember seeing that before." :rotfl:
